im 5 days deep with my Jet Black iPhone and literally 0 scratches. I carry my iPhone in my front left pocket and I've placed it in jeans for several hours, I've also placed it in banana republic chinos for work where I tend to walk around a lot and move around a lot and there are 0 scratches.

Only blemishes are the fingerprints which I don't mind at all. I'd rather have the fingerprints all over my phone and have the added grip as opposed to have 0 fingerprints but a slippery iPhone.

I exchanged a Matte Black 7 Plus for this Jet Black 7 Plus so I know how slippery the other colors are, I've also had a 6 Plus and a 6S Plus.

I welcome the added grip. It feels so much better in the hand (especially for people with daily small hands like myself, I'm 5' 08), wish they would've made the other colors with this high polished aluminum or find some happy medium where the Rose Gold and Gold don't look tacky.

My Levi's have a button thing at the opening of the pocket, that's what I'm scared of!

Hmmm that is pretty concerning. None of my jeans have that. I use skinny jeans so they have that little coin pocket. Maybe you should purchase one of those transparent skins.

Same experience with my JB 7. It's really nice in my hand, a big improvement over the 6S space grey.

There are micro scratches that you can see in certain light when less than 5cm away from the phone, but those dont bug me. The fingerprints dont bug me either.

Great device!

Excellent point. If you purchase the Jet Black knowingly it can be subjected to micro scratches and accept that as you have, then your good to go. Apple obviously stated this as well.

Its sad that Apple even has to state disclaimers like that. I feel all logic goes out the window for some people. There aren't any people going public psycho on car manufacturers for not telling them the black paint could scratch. How un-freaking-reasonable to expect Apple products to be "perfect".

Pics?

Have to say, hard times when you think a phone's finish surviving 5 days is a big enough deal to warrant a thread.

Yes, that would be a far, far better option than resorting to skinny jeans :p

matte black here... no case and no problem with it being slippery.

Is it not just the same as the 6/6s? I've found those to be damn slippery depending on how you hold them.

Apple knows from experience how anal retentive some of their customers are, and this forum certainly reflects that.

I really don't think 5 days is enough considering some of us will have the phone for 365 days or 2 years, BUT the reason I started the thread For a couple of reasons

1. Some people were making it seem that like staring at the phone would get the phone scratched. So I just want to let them know that doing normal activities like sticking your phone in your jeans will not scratch your phone or go it "microabrasions."

2. Many people, like myself included, were on the fence about matte blacke or Jet Black. I tried MB, had it for a week and it's absolutely beautiful in person, the stealth look it has is baller as hell. But deep in my mind I always knew I wanted JB because it looks beautiful and I understood that it had a better grip. So I'm here to tell those people that if your on the fence and have been leaning JB just go for it.

I actually carry my phone in that pocket. Have been doing so since my old Razr flip phone. iPhone 4 was perfect. iPhone 5 I was a little worried about since it was taller, but I got used to it. iPhone 6, I was even more worried since it was wider and taller, but again, I got used to it (it does dig into my side slightly when I'm sitting, but it's not uncomfortable). It's nice and snug, and no worries about scratching it. And I always know it's there. Sure, it sticks out quite a bit at the top but the screen rests against my leather belt (no, it does not scratch it) which keep it pretty well in place. And my shirt covers the phone.

Also, no case. I've never used a case or a screen protector on a phone, and I never plan to.

I just hope it doesn't scratch my jet black

I did the same when I had my 4 and 4S but when I got the 5, that's where it stopped. I don't even think the 6 would fit for me. Since the 6 I started carrying my phone in my back pocket. I take it out when I sit down.

I will probably buy a glossy skin from BestSkinsEver to try and mitigate any scratches and what not but I'm honestly not even concerned about micro-scratches or fingerprints. At the end of the day I'm just I'm satisfied with my device because it fits my aesthetic wants including grip.

Yeah Apple, what's matter with you? Why can't you suspend the laws of physics. It's so sad that a mirror finished black surface in aluminum can be scratched. Just because it is one of the softest metals and a black mirror finish will show least bit of swirl scratches. And warning people in a disclaimer note, how unlike other phone manufacturers that let you discover things on your own. Like exploding phones bursting into flames.

Oh and in case you have not heard, all paints and clear coats scratch and get swirl scratches after first car wash. Just easier to see on a black finish.

Good reason to be scared of that. I only use the left front pocket for my iPhone which jeans don't usually have rivets that those in this photo show on the left side.

My other side is clean, I'll use that.

Please do not associate those with high requirements for their lifestyle vs those who are simply being unreasonable.

You can hold products and your own to a high standard and that is completely fine but there is a clear line between that and simply expecting perfection where perfection doesn't exist.

how were you able to exchange the MB for the JB? did you have two orders?

How did you
