Charging top dollar for a phone that isn't even flagship tier is top-tier Apple-level rose glasses. 1 camera and $900+ lol.
Apple is one of the greediest companies on the planet, Tim Crook ensures that. Also, this phone is a function of that greed: it exists to drive people to spend more money on the “Pro” 🙄.

How much less power does Apple's C2 modem chip consume?

From Apple reports... the C1 (which I erroneously called it the C2, above) modem chip consumes 25% less power than the Qualcomm modem chip previously used in previous iPhones. It also handles more functions than the Qualcomm modem chip.

Also... it has been reported that the 17 Air will also employ a new battery chemistry, silicon carbide, which supposedly has greater energy density per unit volume compared to lithium ion batteries previously used.

I have some other reasons you would buy it:

- You like to keep an external battery on you at all times.
-You would like to be in a class action lawsuit in 2-3 years from the phone bending when you fart to hard and it's in your back pocket.
-Why have 2 camera on the back when I can pay Apple extra to take one of them away!

The 17 Air will prove to be a best seller for people who want a lighter/thinner iPhone at a decent price and still have excellent performance and battery life.

I think what many people forget is that product flops were the domain of the previous CEO. And that Apple product and design engineers are not stupid and have thought through all of the sky-is-falling dogma that people on tech forums always assume and predict will result in a poorly designed Apple product.

"Decent price" this is probably going to be priced like $900 for a middle-of-the-line phone in terms of specs. Nothing about what it will be priced is "decent."

The good news is there are plenty of iPhone alternatives if one doesn't like the Air or its price. Apple will no doubt sell a ton of them. Apple manufacturing and selling roughly 600,000 iPhones per day, every day of the year (on the average) speaks volumes.

Funny the mental gymnastics you are going through to defend this. What you mentioned has 0 to do with it being priced "decently" especically with the fact that carriers will have deals for it to be free anyway. Yes, apple sells a lot of devices, but 900+ for a single camera device is not being priced "decently."

It has everything to do with it. If Apple iPhones were not priced decently, they would not be manufacturing and selling 600,000 iPhones per day.

$900 for a 17 Air would be an instant buy for me. And likely millions of others. Apple isn't stupid, as evidenced by their 1+ Billion active and repeat customer who have propelled Apple to being one of the most successful consumer tech companies in the world.

The good news is everyone has agency and thus choices. Don't like Apple and their pricing? No worries... simply purchase a mobil phone from one of their competitors and find happiness. Easy.

Which is why you have a choice not to buy it or support Apple.

It's amazing in 2025 people still have never heard the term Supply vs Demand. Working in hospitality I see this same argument over high priced tourist destinations (ie. Disney) yet tickets continues to sell.

When this sells poorly (like the mini and plus models) we can revisit this comment. There is a reason the pro and regular models continue to be around and apple keeps trying to add another "tier" without success.

I'm likely switching to the Pixel 10 Pro XL.

Apple is really stagnant and lagging behind at this point, plus I want something new and different.

I’d have a look at the OnePlus. The 13 was fantastic I just found I missed the ecosystem of Apple too much otherwise I’d have stayed with it. Gemini is a revelation after so called Apple Intelligence
