5 Things to Know About the New MacBook Pros

Not particulalry odd. I feel like they had to many variations previously. Im not sure that a 16,24,32gb m2 pro would make much sense. I mean maybe it would ve 16,32,48. But given the cost they charge foe their ram. Im not sure their is meaningful market segment for a m2 pro with 24/48gb of ram that wouldnt be significantly better served by a m2 max.

Perhaps they could have done m2 pro in 24 or 48 and m2 max in 48/96 but the base price would have increased alot and plenty of buyers dont need that much memory.

So i think they did it to streamline their offering and avoid offering a pretty meaningless configuration.
I'd buy that, but even then, why have 24GB at all at that point? I'd ask why also have 96GB instead of stopping at 64GB, but there's definitely a use-case for more than 64GB of RAM (not for me personally, but I can certainly imagine several workloads that'd benefit from that).

I'd buy the 24GB if they offered it. Can't really justify 32GB for my needs, but I like to keep my computers for several needs, and 16GB makes me a bit nervous that I might feel constrained too soon.

I'm not going to look 8GB extra in the face and knock it, but it's not enough of a boost over 16GB to seriously matter. If you find yourself feeling like 16GB isn't enough, 24GB likely won't be that much better.

So disappointed. Apple hasn’t done any innovation since Apple silicon. All they can do is “more of the same thing” stagnating their entire product line. Customers have very few reasons to upgrade existing devices. Yawn.

I wish Steve was still around.

What kind of innovation are you looking for? M2 IS Apple Silicon. M2 is not supposed to be a groundbreaking change over M1. Same goes for M2 Pro and M2 Max. It's the evolution. You were never going to get the kind of jump you had from 8th, 9th, or 10th Gen Intel Core processors (give or take AMD graphics) to M1/M1 Pro/M1 Max with M2/M2 Pro/M2 Max. That's an unreasonable expectation. Even under Steve Jobs, you never had that kind of crazy "each new generation of processor was a massive jump over the previous one". Temper your expectations.

Sticking with my M1 Max. No need for me to upgrade whatsoever as none of those difference are particularly relevant, or appealing, to me.

It's 50% more. It'd be the difference between occasionally feeling a bit of RAM pressure and having plenty of breathing room.

Disappointed?! What are you looking for?

The Apple Silicone 14/16" MBP is as close to perfection as one could want in a MacBook PRO now that we got our Ports, MagSafe, no Fans, no heat, reliable keyboards, gorgeous displays, unreal speakers, Touch ID ... incremental updates are all that is necessary at this point with infrequent tech upgrades to the displays.

This is supposed to be a joke, right?
