as a guy who came directly from 2G to 3GS, I'm not that impressed

my old 2G lasted longer

Of course it did. EDGE requires considerably less battery juice than 3G does. This is not a big secret. When I went from my 2G to my 3G, I knew this was the cost of doing business. (Then, I dropped my 3G in a pool, and am back to increased life, but not by choice :) ).

That being said, GPS is also a big battery drain. But frankly, if you're planning on using GPS for an extended period of time (ie driving places) why wouldn't you use a car charger? Seems like a no brainer to me?

Your 2G didn't have a 3G data connection.

Also, in addition to the fact that it didn't have a 3G connection, it also had a bigger (higher mAh) battery. The battery shrunk when the power hungry 3G parts were put in. That apparently that was the sacrifice Apple made to give us a curved back instead of a flat back like the original. My 2G always had better battery life compared to the 3G, even with the 3G turned off.

I'm jealous of all of you.

there should be an exam before buying an iphone and if you fail you're not allowed to buy one.

example question 1. do you understand that 3g, gps, push etc depletes battery life?

answer: no.

go away and buy a cheap payg phone that will last a week between charges because IT DOESN'T DO ANYTHING.

Thats Boll#@ks my SE P1i lasted 2-3 days with more intense use, most Nokias are just as good.

I like apple products, but even the most notorious fan boy must admit that Apple has been screwing up on the battery management front with the iphones
