Cancel and reorder for 24 hours
I just spoke to apple and they said that they do ship in 24 hours for new orders. The rep cancelled and setup a new order. I now have the ships in 24 hours status on my order details page, due to be received by Nov 15th - 16th.

I ordered the upgrade kit from Tekserve in NYC last week and it came today.
It seems to be working perfectly in my 2008 (3,1) with 10.6.5. I'm using it with a single display (23-inch ACD).
It is huge compared to the 8800GT it is replacing.
Even so, installation was really easy. I spent more time blowing dust out of the inside of the Mac Pro, then I spent putting the new card in.

Mine also showed as prepare for shipment with December date, but it does not allow me to modify the order, like canceling the order

Call Apple up and see if your order is getting honored. Or what do you have to do to get the card.
I'm in the same boat as you. I called Apple and they said it IS prepped for shipment so I'm keeping the original order as I suggest you do as well!
Damn I didn't know they had educational discounts on the video cards. Do you think they would adjust the price for me?
No they won't, you'll have to place a new order. For some reason the edu and normal sales systems don't talk to each other

Wow, my shipment will be here today. Sent out yesterday. Originally, delivery date 12/30/10, which got bump up to 11/16 and this morning when i checked ... Out for delivery with FedEx. Very nice!

Got the shipment notification yesterday. The card should be in my hand's Monday morning.
It's shipping out of Nashville TN, which is where most of my Apple orders ship from.
As I said in several threads around here Apple was just waiting for 10.6.5 to be released. So hopefully the drivers are in place and good to go.
