Then why do they sell a normal mini displayport to single link DVI if it won't even work? Thats total bull crap. So will I only need one for the TV? And the TV is HDMI not DVI...
 
DVI = HDMI for purposes of display compatibility. It's electrically the same, so passive conversion works, and in a few circumstances DVI can even pass audio.

Display Port is a completely different protocol, so passive adapters work...to a point.

Apparently three monitors demands the use of active converters, because of the way the Display Port generates the clock signal in this card.

Long story short: Don't plan on using three monitors without going to extra hassle unless two of those three use Display Port.

The normal adapter is for people with one mini DisplayPort female connection on their Macs (ie: MacBook [Pro], iMac, etc.) and will only connect to a single-link DVI monitor.
