That sucks to hear. Only time I ever had to use it is when the power button on my 4 broke.

That price is too much though...especially if you have a 16GB model. Would be nice if the price was lower for those with non-accidental defects(bad screen, buttons, etc.) and higher for those people that obviously just break their phone all the time.

That's why it makes sense to buy the 32 gigs model with an Amex card, which mirrors the standard warranty in the 2nd year. Should it break during the 2nd year Amex will reimburse you the $299 plus tax and you use that to cover the $269 OOW replacement.

4S OOW replacement price is still at $199 though. Apple may be able to replace just the screen, button, etc. for cheaper. Just ask them.
