This thread reminds me of the real reason Apple turned the iP5 into a polycarbonate shell instead of keeping the difficult-to-manufacture-to-perfection aluminum casing.
FWIW, my year old iPhone 5 has two little marks from new on both sides of the black side bands, a pretty common flaw from the forums if I remember correctly. To this day, they are the only imperfections on my case-less iPhone, and they were there out of the box.
