As my girlfriend, may she rest in peace, said "there is nothing worth waiting in line for." I did the waiting in line thing once for the iPhone 3GS. After that experience I started using the preorder method.

Right now Apple can't sell these in China yet, so they are probably headed to China. Would make sense for them to hit Australia too, since that is even closer. I'll just wait for my online order, thank you. Although I wish there was a way to screen out the scalpers. It would make the launch day lines much more fun and manageable- I'd be willing to do it then.

It could be interesting where do people go after they got their iphones, maybe they go directly to JFK Airport directly to China to sell that iphones at amazing prices.

If you hire 100 people to buy iphones on launch date and you go directly to China you will make a lot of money. Now I am starting to understand why there are that long lines in the Apple Stores.

Yes, I imagine this is true. Maybe instead of complaining I should get more enterprising and start a yearly iPhone resale business, lol.

Most of these pre order sales are resellers wanting to make a big profit.

She wouldn't wait in line for a million dollars?

Bunch of pathetic losers those people are. Seriously getting the same exact phone but with a bigger screen.

That's racist.

You'd better look up the definition of "racist" because that was not racist.

Same as last year in Menlo Park NJ store. 2/3rds of the line were Chinese families each with cash falling out of their pockets. If Apple was able to sell the 6's in China the lines wouldn't be 1/2 as long. Each family member buys the limit of phones, pays cash then resells them. I got shut out last year when the family in front of me bought 10 phones (2 x 5). All paid cash. I was next, and got shut out after almost 2hr wait. Fortunately I preordered this year and had my phone in hand at 9AM sharp but checked out the mall at lunchtime. Same as last year. Maybe worse.

All perfectly legal. That's the "American" way.

Disclaimer: I love Chinese people. My sister-in-law is Chinese. I even love Chinese food and Chinese checkers.

There always ruining things :)....strength in numbers i guess but alone their very weak

There's a way to thwart the scalpers: get there before they do!

No one is stopping NON-scalpers from standing in line earlier.

I walked passed both the 5th Avenue and Grand Central Apple Stores this morning as I walking to work and the majority of the people in line were Asian. WHAT a coincidence. I don't care about your race or skin color, what I do care about is the fact that MANY people will not get an iPhone today because they are being scalped. Period.

Apple should require a credit card for purchase on release day. I think this would be a valid reason why should anyone question it. Problem is, it's hard to prove without our oversensitive society crying 'racist' simply because most of the scalpers (and paid shills) happen to be of one ethnic group. Apple simply won't go there.

Coincidentally, I decided to wear a royal blue polo today, so I thought it would be fun to put my work ID lanyard around my neck, with the pure white side showing so that I would resemble an Apple Store Employee. As I walked by, I went up to the line and said in a firm voice, 'okay everyone, new rules this year, absolutely NO cash to make an iPhone purchase. Credit cards ONLY and you must show a valid drivers license'.

The reaction was fear and panic (from those who understood me) and many of them picked up their Droid phones with a look of confusion in their eyes. Perhaps they were calling their pimps? I quickly walked away when a real Apple Store employee noticed me. It's midtown Manhattan, so it's easy to vanish in a second.

Just wanted to have a little fun as this sickens me year after year.

wish I was there too capture the moment and have some fun too :D 5Ave was disaster today morning.. somewhere in china :p hehe

I'm sorry man, this made me crack the f*&k up, haha.

The world today seems absolutely crackers,
With nuclear bombs to blow us all sky high.
There's fools and idiots sitting on the trigger.
It's depressing and it's senseless, and that's why...
I like Chinese.
I like Chinese.
They only come up to your knees,
Yet they're always friendly, and they're ready to please.

I like Chinese.
I like Chinese.
There's nine hundred million of them in the world today.
You'd better learn to like them; that's what I say.

I like Chinese.
I like Chinese.
They come from a long way overseas,
But they're cute and they're cuddly, and they're ready to please.

I like Chinese food.
The waiters never are rude.
Think of the many things they've done to impress.
There's Maoism, Taoism, I Ching, and Chess.

So I like Chinese.
I like Chinese.
I like their tiny little trees,
Their Zen, their ping-pong, their yin, and yang-ese.

I like Chinese thought,
The wisdom that Confucious taught.
If Darwin is anything to shout about,
The Chinese will survive us all without any doubt.

So, I like Chinese.
I like Chinese.
They only come up to your knees,
Yet they're wise and they're witty, and they're ready to please.

All together.

[verse in Chinese]
Wo ai zhongguo ren. (I like Chinese.)
Wo ai zhongguo ren. (I like Chinese.)
Wo ai zhongguo ren. (I like Chinese.)
Ni hao ma; ni hao ma; ni hao ma; zaijien! (How are you; how are you; how are you; goodbye!)

I like Chinese.
I like Chinese.
Their food is guaranteed to please,
A fourteen, a seven, a nine, and lychees.

I like Chinese.
I like Chinese.
I like their tiny little trees,
Their Zen, their ping-pong, their yin, and yang-ese.

I like Chinese.
I like Chinese.
They only come up to your knees...

Meanwhile here is an actual picture I took at the Microsoft Store just a couple hours ago.

I just went by an AT&T Corporate store in Minnesota that still has a line and it's growing. I can't belive they have any iPhone 6's so why would and one wait in line that long.

No, they "won't go there" because they're making money and they don't care who's giving them the cash -- resellers or scalpers or "legit" customers. Money is money.

Whether that's fair is a whole different story. They have to wait on the same lines as everyone else, pay the same amount as everyone, and are subject to all the same limits and rules as everyone. So who are you to judge what someone does with the phones they buy?

No, it isn't. Its stating a fact. Go preach perpetual outrage machine somewhere else, it's all played out here.

The rascist excluded Asians from the Australian population, saying only whites are Australian. It's a strong sentiment held many white Australians:

I wouldnt be staying in a 12 block line even if they told me they were giving the phones for free...thats just ridiculous, having to go through all this like a homeless person because you want to fork down a 1,000$ to buy a phone!

Pre order is the only way. And if it means getting the damn thing 1 week or even 1 month later so be it.
