Does anyone feel the same way? I can't decide which Pro size to get and it's because both sizes don't fit my needs. I wish Apple would make the Pro Max less wide; that would help a lot. I think a 6.3-inch screen size alternative would be perfect.

I find the 6.1 to be borderline to big. I wish they kept the pro at 5.8 ngl. If 5G isn’t a feature you need why not get the 11 pro max at 6.5?
Everybody's Goldlocks-like sweet spot is different. It's very personal. For me and my use something in the 5.7-6.0 range is preferable.
I would get the 11 Pro Max instead, but Verizon is having a promo on the 12 series only.
Listen there is no use in saying one way or the other. Too big or too small? Apple decides the sizes and that won't change. Just pick what fits your needs!

I didn't realise 5.8 was my mother bear perfect porridge until I got the 6.7 Pro Max.
XS Max 6.5 was a nice size but I think at this point phones won’t get any bigger.
I’m very conflicted. I like and use the 5.8” size on my XS, but I’ve also used the 6.1” and 6.5” screen sizes on the 12 Pro and XS Max, respectively. I hated the 6.1” cause it felt too big for the supposedly “smaller” model. The squared edges definitely didn’t help the ergonomics.

I have an 8plus and would likely get a 12 pro max. I like the screen WIDTH of the larger phones. The length is less of an issue. I tried a 6s and it was just freakin' small. Too small to type accurately with my larger hands and the screen was too small for my aging eyes. I wouldn't mind trying a 12 pro because it's larger than the 6s/7/... For those who have used all three sizes, 6s.., 11&12 pro, and plus/max sized phones, is the pro (11 pro and 12 pro) closer to a 6s or a plus/max style phone? Just curious.

5.8 is the sweet spot for me. Loved the size of the 11 Pro. 12 Pro is just slightly bigger, but it's enough to make a difference in one handed use. I'd prefer 5.8 as the non max/mini size.
I currently have the 12PM and yes it’s big but I just can’t go back to a smaller size. My first big phone was the 6+ and I can’t go back to a smaller phone. 6.1 is bigger buts it’s missing the width.

I always had the Max phones until the XS Max. Returned 2 of them due to poor connectivity. However, I found them just a little too heavy/bulky for me. Since then it’s been the smaller Pro versions that work best for me. They are my sweet spot and fit perfectly in my pocket or small crossbody organizer.
I got a Casetify case and that solved that issue. I love those cases and the customization options even if their a tad pricey.
It’s completely personal. I got the regular 12, and I think it is a little too big. In hindsight I should have got the 12 mini, though it’s not worth changing now. But then again, I came from the original SE, so that was what I was used to.
Since the 6+, I’ve used Plus size phones until the X launched. I loved the phone but hated the size. I upgraded to the XS Max 18 months later and loved it. In August 2020, I switched carriers and got the SE 2020 for free (promo credits to offset the balance for 24 months). I used the phone for 2 days before using my unlocked XS Max. The SE 2020 was toooo small for me. I couldn’t type and the screen is so tiny. I now have a launch day 12 Pro Max and I could never go smaller than 6.7. At times I wish the 12 Pro Max was bigger than 6.7.
6.1 is the sweet spot for me. I've had note/plus/max phones since 2011 so I immediately ordered the 12PM on launch day. Loved it at first, but then spent the next 6 months fumbling and dropping it constantly due to the huge size & weight. Thanks, little elf hands. Couldn't use certain purses anymore cause it either wouldn't fit in them or there wouldn't be enough room left for my wallet & keys too. Forget fitting it in ANY pants or jacket pockets. I finally had to admit defeat lol. I ordered an SE for kicks a couple months ago and realized I really enjoyed using a normal sized phone. Used that for a while, really loved it, but kept thinking it would be absolutely perfect if the screen was just a tiny bit bigger and the camera had night mode. Bought a 12 Pro yesterday and it hits all the marks. I could probably handle 6.3 too, but 6.1 is big enough to comfortably consume content and small enough for all my purses, pockets, and one-handed use.
I honestly don’t feel like there is much difference between 5.8 and 6.1 for me, i think the fact the sides changed from rounded to flat helped with the size bump.
Update: I chose the 12 Pro Max. I absolutely love it. I’ve changed my mind: the 6.7-inch screen is perfect. I can’t see myself buying a smaller iPhone ever again.
The 6.1” screen is the perfect sweet spot for me. The biggest I can comfortably fit in my pocket and operate with one hand.
Tends to show that most users can easily adopt to a slightly bigger or smaller device if they try. Good thing you tested it, enjoy the device.
