If your watch is on 6.2.5 and your phone is on 13.5 and the rainbow color option doesn’t show up for faces like California, hold down the side button to Power Off your watch, then start it again. It should then show up.
Yeah that does the trick...good idea by apple i must say
 
Battery life is certainly better

off charge at 8am and at nearly 16:00 69% left....big improvement
Mine is actually worse. was around 2%/hour, now over 3%/hour. I've restarted the watch a couple of times and sure it'll settle down.

What a stupid "bug". How many casual users are even aware that you can restart the watch?
 
Just upgraded to 13.5, selected California rainbow on the phone app as default. Watch wouldn't show it until I restarted and selected from the watch. The California face looks great this way, both active and when dimmed.
