Why won’t mine swipe notifications down after unlock but before a home swipe? My friends does. Can’t find a setting for it.

Animoji is not working correctly when I wear glasses. When I wear glasses the Animoji shakes and cannot recognise facial movements correctly.

I have recorded a video but Macrumors has their forum stuck in the dark ages so I cannot upload it.

I would much rather close apps just like every other iOS device. Why do I have to “hold” then swipe away? Also, bypassing the swipe up after Face ID would be nice. I’d rather go right to my home screen.

I actually find it interesting that Apple introduced the Done button to app wiggle mode, as I had been swiping up the first few times since it’s the logical analogue to what we did before.

The control center methods are terrible. I use the CC a lot and it seems :apple: half assed the effort.

Why not use 3D Touch in some way to invoke the CC? Or combine the CC with instant Siri search? Or at least put quick CC info such as battery %, Bluetooth, etc in the app switcher mode.

Apple is basically in transition on the way to "intuitive" all screen navigation. I really wished that they broke with the current paradigm and introduced something radically new, but I guess, that would be too risky.

The home indicators gestures are a good first step, but "notification centre vs control centre" swipes are just plain awful (especially if they warrant the need for reachability). All of this non-immediate-app access needs better integration. Maybe improvements will come with iOS 12.

Return to last app needs to be right at the bottom edge of the phone, quite hard to do with one hand as your thumb needs to ready down and back on itself and you have to swipe it all the way over to the right to get it to invoke or it goes back. I think I prefer going to the app switcher.

To be honest most of the time i've just swiped up and searched for the app, or used the app switcher.

I don't see the point of the red dots in the app switcher - you already have to hold to invoke the app switcher, from there it should work as normal and just let you swipe up to force lose apps. It's pretty hard to accidently invoke it so it's not like you're going to force close an app when you meant to just go home.

Also I hope Apple lets the keyboard go lower to the bottom of the screen once nearly all apps are updated to iPhone X, theres an awful lot of wasted space there catering for it to be the same level as apps that aren't updated.
You complained about a swipe being too low for one handed use, and then asked for keyboard to be lowered. The keyboard is where it is for comfortable one handed typing.

I thought people would’ve found these little things out on their own. I used my own curiosity to see what I can do. Also on a side note, I noticed in videos when people swiping to app switcher, they swip up and to the right a bit. It’s a bit misslesding since you can swipe straight up and stop quarter way.

Ok I can’t get the quick search to work. If I swipe up and let go a split second it goes to the home screen. What am I doing wrong?

The one posted here is more complicated. Just swipe down on the home screen and Siri search will launch

Sadly, reachability does not get you a reachable control center swipe if you’re on the home screen. It only works from within apps.
Not try. Swipe from the middle of the dock down. It’s there

It’s smoother going in a “r” motion. You don’t have to stop and the transition to moving the apps to the right is faster.
You can also swipe to the right and toss the next app down towards the dock. You don’t need to swipe straight across at the home bar for that multitasking. There’s a lot of motion in all of these that can make it more fun and fluid. I feel like stopping going straight up isn’t the quickest way

Actually it does work. The little icons don’t move, but in reach ability mode on home screen you can pull down control center from just above the right-top app icon

Exiting wiggle mode by swiping up works on my iPhone7+ on iOS 10. Learn something new. Nice.

I can’t force close apps using that method on tip 2. It just reads it like returning to home screen. Do you have to be on iOS 11.1? Mine is on 11.0.1.

Actually before I drive myself bananas and erase my phone and start over, can someone please confirm you can look at you phone and immediately swipe down for notifications BEFORE swiping up to home?
Thanks.

Thanks for the tips, these are great.

I’m enjoying most of the new gestures on iPhone X but the decision to move Control Center to the top right is bizarre. It completely breaks one-handed use. I wish they would put it in the app switcher, or do something like a 3D Touch on the “Home Bar” to invoke Control Center.

When I switch True Tone off, the screen goes to a definite blue tone. So I have left True Tone on. Don’t like what I see with it off. Any suggestions?

If this turns out to be the first iPhone I ever drop in 10 years, you can bet it'll be due to trying to swipe down from the home bar.

Ah I get what you’re saying. I guess if people need to save .5 to 1 second sure lol

All these hidden non documented gestures don't sound very appealing. Oh how we will pine for the beloved home button and fat chin days.
