Oh, they will…
Where there is a will there is always a way… and I think these morons are desperate for any time in the "limelight".
They will benefit, by hook or by crook. ;)

Stupid people.

The judge says they cannot benefit directly, aka write about the event.
Suppose to provide quarterly financial statements (not sure for how long).

But the judge says there is no way to stop them from getting something else as a result of the event.

That's my point.

This "punishment" is going to do nothing to stop the other loonies out there doing stuff for their own 5 minutes of dubious "fame".

What a world…

What worries me is that during the initial hearing when they pleaded guilty (yes, I'm ashamed to admit I watched it) was that the lawyer requested, that as a condition of the bail, they be allowed to travel to New York and LA for "job opportunities." Think for a second; what sort of job opportunity would involve travel to New York and/or LA? These morons are getting a TV show I bet. They'll get their TV show and the million dollar contract and the fines will end up being pocket change.

Deterrent is jail time and restitution.

She gets
4 years of supervised probation.
Not profiting.
20 days jail on work release, but not until her husband is done with jail.
(there was a question about something per year but I didn't catch that)

Sentencing concluded.

----
Edit, 20 days might be actual jail time, not work release.

I feel bad for the kids in this whole ordeal.

I agree with the other poster, between the jail time and the restitution. I don't think anyone else will pull off any sort stunt like this again.

He basically destroyed the family's financial future over this foolish stunt.

Well that's simply not true, I'm sure there will be many many more cases of a someone crying wolf, but for now, this incident will stick with popular culture for a while, whether that's a good thing or a bad thing, is a matter of opinion.

Judge ordered no profit / benefit from the event.

It's not difficult to enforce that.

Something like this could happen if they have any TV show etc deals:
Judge: please show signed statement (under penalty of perjury) showing this TV show had earnest discussion before the event.
Them: don't have it.
Judge: TV show denied.

Top be honest, I think that this little stunt that they pulled made them Persona non grata with the reality tv folks. They don't want this negative publicity, or the possible court complications that might occur.
