Sadly, these people will probably end up with a reality show and have now created the blueprint for how to dupe the media into giving you 24-48 hours of non-stop coverage.

That is Jon and Kate's job.

Hope these idiots get federal charges.

They should be put on a reality show:

Cry Wolf Island

It's an island with hungry wolfs, but every time they talk about wolfs the show will ask, are you making it up too?

When I watched the family's TV interview clips a few days ago, I first suspected 'domestic violence' for some reason but didn't say anything about it because I had no proof.

Now, today's CNN.com article mentions the possibility of domestic violence:

Alderden also said authorities are concerned about the safety of the three children, ages 6, 8, and 10. In fact, authorities spoke with Mayumi Heene "at length about domestic violence" and the children's safety, Alderden said. "But we didn't have enough that would allow us or Child Protection Services to physically take the kids from that environment."

There was a 911 call from the home earlier this year that led authorities to a "suspicious circumstance" that Alderden said may have involved "domestic violence, perhaps against the wife."

I wouldn't be surprised. Seems like a very strange family (moreso after I saw the two Wife Swap episodes... scary)!

I heard on TV today that him and his wife met in acting school. Apparently, he’s not quite the academic they made him out to be originally as he only has a high school diploma. This story gets better and better.

thanks for making my hometown seen like a crazy house effing balloon people:mad:

they need to be tied to a balloon and have it lift off as punishmnet and then see how funny it is

and then be forced to pay for all the costs from the stunt that they did earlier

Even Cyanide and Happiness is getting in on the action:

Neither the Larimer County district attorney's office nor the sheriff's office has confirmed the settlement. If the court approves it, the father could face up to 90 days in jail and the mother up to 60 days.

Doesn't seem like serious enough punishment, if you ask me.

Balloon Boy Parents Sentencing LIVE

Hoax started live on tv, irony that sentencing is live too. =)

Watching on cnn.com (the new tabloid channel / blog) right now.

Prosecution claims:
restitution of at least $50,000 government costs,
that's before FAA costs, and farm crop damages

Defense claims that the husband is at fault, while that wife is not responsible.
Defense also claims that the goal is to "invent" a device that can help people travel (in balloons). LOL, welcome to 1783.

11:56am: looks like it's likely to be probation. Judge mentions probation is punishment with number of terms and conditions.
