@nebulos: why are you still here?

more to the point, why are you still here?

You don't need OSX, prefer the app base you can get on windows and neither ultra-portability or SSD storage are decisive factors in what constitutes an acceptable laptop for you.

As a result you paid a premium price for a bunch of stuff you don't need and wasted your money. Goodbye

Without a me, there won't be you. Anyways, we shall resume back to the topic, which is the interest of everyone, nobody cares about the rants.

The topic was whether an HDD equipped laptop that weighs a chunk more and doesnt run OSX was a better deal for you than the MBA you bought and thus whether you wasted your money.

I've answered it as have umpteen other people I fail to see how more 'on topic' we could get.

There is no "topic" anymore. Moreover, there is nothing here that is really "the interest of everyone." (not anymore, at least)

goodbye. Moving on to other threads. :p

I am having high doubts about these few individuals who claims will not come back. Jumps right back in after this post.

Anecdote:
It's like saying you like English, and you don't like your math, so you cuss the brain out of the math teacher, poor math teacher I must say.

Hardware: with examples in software
The argument is weight vs. price. I asked for proof of high cost in engineering, nobody can come up with a number. This is a hard question, unless you are an insider on the production side, you might not know it. But to my surprise, nobody wants/can to toss an estimation.

Again, we are just going with intuition about what we feel it worth and go with it. I mentioned the term "blind faith". It doesn't sound very pleasing if you love your MacBook Air, or you never wanted to doubt the value of your Air. MacBook Air does look nice, no doubt, and you paid a lot for it, so it better look nice!! Or perhaps, you paid a lot of money, for the love its price, you have registered your mind with its dollar value.

Are you feeling so good(about your MacBook Air) because of its placebo effect? I pointed out how you can find its software and hardware equivalence in Windows or Linux. In fact, Linux is very stable and fast, but not as compatible with software. Will you switch to Linux?

Maybe you are so negatively turned down by this post because I pointed out what might not seem so obvious. Something to think about, more to come...

kulimer,

clearly, this thread is not just going to disappear. for the time being, i won't either, though you're obviously welcome to ignore me.

you don't understand why the MBA costs more, though several people have tried to explain why, several times. in any case, if you're really interested in understanding the MBA, again, start here:

Please provide examples of other laptops that share the MacBook Air's characteristics (including it's weight and size) that are much cheaper than the MacBook Air.

we can take it from there.

if you want people to cooperate with you when you pose questions, you must be willing to cooperate with them when they respond.
