That doesn't mean you are running the 64 bit kernel. Look for "kernel_task" and see if that is Intel (64 bit). As others have stated, you can run 64 bit apps with the 32 bit kernel. (just like before).

Look at your kernel process (procid 0). If it doesn't say 64-bit, you're running the 32-bit kernel. But again, for those who have hardware or software which do not (yet) have 64-bit extensions, you've got no choice other than to have that specific hardware/software not work.

the kernel task is blank on my iMac, doesnt say 64 or 32, and I cant find anything with "procid 0," nor can I find any other reference to my kernel tasks and only know to look in System Profiler and Activity Monitor. Is there another way to look? I'll check on my macbook too...
