I agree, that's a big jump.

I had some games that I deleted that were big space consumers. At this point I think "Health" is my largest app, when you include the stored data. I'm not sure why...one thing I think that contributes to that is saved EKG readings. I may delete some of them and see what happens.

yes, EKG readings are massive for some reason
good to work out how to download them to your PC/Mac

I would've liked a 128gb option, but I'm going with 64gb.

That's what I currently have now (iPhone X) & I'm only using 25, so I think I'll be fine.

Also, I thought I read or heard this, but can't remember the source....is it true that IOS 13 apps sizes with be smaller? (I'm thinking if they are, that could be a bit of help) Can anyone confirm this?

I use 25 out of 64GB today (7GB of which is my son's Fortnite game). Everything else is streamed or on iCloud. I'm not a gamer

256GB every time for me (well, until 256GB becomes the new 64GB sometime down the road).

With 64GB it's not like you get a full 64GB out of the box because the OS and installed apps take up some room. Making matters worse is that it's not like you ever fill your storage up to exactly 64GB, once you've chewed through 55-60GB then you start feeling the pressure. Plus at least for me there would always be that nagging in the back of my mind.

Yeah a lot of people can get away with 64GB just fine, which as long as they're happy with it then who am I to judge? I'm talking about my own personal usage patterns. I like to have a lot of music and a few movies stored locally because I often find myself in situations with spotty cellular connections and no wifi. 256GB gives me peace of mind, plus as I type this I'm currently using 158GB. I could probably find a way to get it below 64GB, but I like not having to worry about it.

Last year, I got the 256gb option. When I checked how much I was using recently, it was just 28gb, so I went with 64gb this time.

I need to clean out some unwanted photos and apps before the new one arrives, but even with all that bloat, it's still not a lot. I don't want to hang onto a lot of clutter, even if it's just digital.

64 has been fine for me in a while. I don't play many games and definitely no large ones. I stream tv, music, movies. I do have some music stored on my phone and a fair amount of pics and videos I've taken but I generally do a good job of going back and deleting anything that I don't want to keep long term. I've used a little over 1/2 of my storage. It's 38.7 of 64 used for me.

That’s how SSD work. There are old threads here with benchmarks from last year that show similar read speeds between 64GB and 256GB but the 256GB has double the write speed. The main application where it matters is when you’re writing large files like taking or exporting video.

Is this something that I would ever notice in day-to-day iPhone use?

And if so, is it enough to pay extra for considering that 64GB is plenty of space for me?

I have a 64 GB iPhone and I barely make a dent storage-wise. All my photos and videos are uploaded manually to Dropbox. I stream all my music with iTunes Match. I will download podcasts but they only stay on my phone temporarily. I don't game. I have 104 apps currently.

You probably won't feel the difference because most of what you're doing is reading existing data and that's similar performance.

I now unlike the past use the cloud for most stuff so I settle with the 64 gig and have been good for the last few years

Best way to decide is to look at your storage usage on your current phone. Your requirement won’t suddenly double just because you have a new phone.
I have a friend who wanted a 256GB iPhone. She was using an older 128GB iPhone and was using around 80Gb of the storage. She said she will need 256Gb because she uses her iPhone for a long time. I told her she won’t magically use more 128GB so save some money and get another 128GB model. She finally agreed and never had storage issues with her current 128Gb iPhone.

I myself will probably opt for 128GB iPhone 11. Currently on a 64GB 6S with enough storage, but I checked and I had many apps offloaded. If I actually had all those apps installed, I might exceed 64GB. Good thing the 128GB iPhone 11 doesn’t cost a lot more than the base storage.

I had a 256 X and went 64gb this time. I used 31gb in almost 2 years. Not going to pay for extra storage I won’t use. I use the cloud as well. Plus my iPad is 256.

I bought the 11 Pro 64 GB. I had the XS Max with 256 GB. I am using about 60 GB and know I could offload some of it. This is a test to see if this will be enough. I wish we had the option of 128 GB which would be ideal for me.

pro with 64 is a joke... shouldnt even exist.

my old iphone is 64 and it is always full. it is there only for making more money for Apple to be able to take a higher price for 256gb. today, neither samsung or oneplus dont even offer a 64gb flagship. Apple is making joke of its customer who bends still nicely when offered 64gb... today.

Normally I am solid as a rock about not paying more for storage. However for the 11 I went with 128. I am hoping by the time I upgrade again that 128 is standard. However for $50 it wasn't terrible. I look at the pro and having to pay $150 for the 256GB is the spot I am trying to avoid being in. If I would have gone pro I would have stuck with 64. When you add the cost of storage it's just too much of a stretch for too little gain for me.

If you plan to buy new iPhones in the future it is still cheaper to get the 64GB and pay the $2.99 per month for 200 GB plus you have all your stuff on icloud which is bonus. No need to pay much more for extra GB unless you plan to keep your current iPhone for many years.

Or plan to use it when not in range of cell towers. I like having my music with me when camping and maybe a few films in case it rains. I am pretty cheap but will pay $50 to get 128GB for this little slice of grandiose self satisfaction.

Also I live in a hilly area where spots without coverage are frequent when driving around.

Always 64GB.

I don’t really take photos, all my music is on Spotify so all I really need space for is apps.

This is my iPhone 11.

Unlimited data plan and iCloud storage for me for a few years now - Apple Music streams and photos just sort themselves out.

My iPhone 7+ is 128gb and bad about 78gb free. That’s after 2 years of use. So looks like I don’t need more than 64gb

64GB probably would have been fine for me but I think I will do some filming with the Pro for things I do at work so more space would really help. Went with 256GB.

iPhone X 64gb & iPad Pro 11 64gb with 200gb iCloud. My phone has used 27gb and the iPad 11 has used 20gb.

I also share the 200gb with my wife as well. Never had any issues with running out of space. Stream and download music from Deezer and watch TV through Apple TV & Now TV. I just let the device manage space with the iCloud account.
