You would think if they could make a 160GB ipod, they could do the same with the itouch.

you do realize that flash memory is a lot more expensive than a hard drive. why do you think the 8gb 1st generation touch was 300 dollars. Apple isn't doing this just to displease us, they just can't fit more than 64 GB without either increasing the price, or compromising the weight and form factor of the touch.

Maybe Apple will really blow everyone out of the water and release a new 128gb ipod touch for only $299! I can see it now Steve gets on stage and says "Today we say goodbye to an old friend the ipod classic. But we say hello to the future with the new 128gb ipod touch priced at only $299.

If there is a 128GB touch announced, and I give it a 50/50 chance if the Classic is dumped, it would be at $399, not $299, imo.

How about Apple putting in OLED screen with 64 GB drive, 128 GB costing 100 dollars/euros extra for the upgrade. I want OLED screen, please Apple make it happen, even Zune has it.

Agreed, if Apple released a 128GB iPod touch I'd be getting it day one. As of now, I'm looking into the 64GB version as I am almost out of space on my 1G 16GB touch.

Why do you want it? What's so special, really?

Besides, I doubt it'll happen. The iPod touch is basically a iPhone without a cellular radio. They share the same basic architecture otherwise.

I think that when Apple upgrades their iPod's again, They may eliminate the "iPod classic/nano line and have an iPod touch *maybe touch nano?* that ranges from 4GB ($50.00 - $75.00) all they way up to a 150GB ($350.00?)

I think that would be a smart move for Apple, because ever since the touch screen was introduced as an iPod/iPhone the scroll wheel always seemed a little obsolete to me.

:)

Many prefer the scroll wheel interface.

The current Nano rocks in that regard. Very nice iPod.

By all means, heck yeah it's a nice iPod (my little brother has one)

But I wouldn't be surprised if Apple uses that "obsolete" thing.

Gut feeling tells me that if the Nano, and Classic, are selling well, then Apple won't change.

Then again, who thought that the Shuffle would loose its control buttons?

As for the OP's question, since the iPod touch has two memory slots and the iPhone has one, it would stand to reason that the top end iPod touch would have 64GB (32GB x 2).

It did not happen, well the 64 GB iPod is out there but the OLED screen isn't. OLED screen would require much less power would be thinner and the contrat ratio for OLED screens is much better than the LED backlit screens too.
