Recently they have come out with LED back lit LCDs, but with the exception of LG OLED any TV currently manufacturered in 2016 is a LCDI believe you set is an LED not LCD as LCD were discontinued years ago.

Thanks for the help. I found a Sony XBR-65X850D for $1400. It was an open box but seemed like a decent price.
European models are manufactured in Europe.I realize Sony is made in chicom, but, they are the "Apple" of tv's, not a pos like the viz.

They all need calibration, though. LCD panels seem to be set way too blue out of the box. That's how mine looked:In my personal experience with the recent 4k TVs. I really think the PQ of the Sony's are leagues above the Samsung's. Personal preference but I am continually blown away every time I go to my friends house to watch his TV.
My Samsung seems to be a muddy grainy mess in contrast.
LG OLED smokes them both though.

I probably would've gone with the Samsung UN65JU7100. Enjoy your Sony though.
