This has happens to me twice tonight and had to do a restart to get it back working. I pull up the control center and it freezes a bit and shows the flashlight icon as on but it's not on. I turn it off and it stays off. Turn it back on and nothing. Also just noticed none of the other icons in control center work either like clock calculator etc. it eventually just crashed to the home screen and lots of things happened all at once like it was going through everything including clicked.

I am not sure I could even show this to apple because it seems to only happen when I'm not trying to make it happen. I use the flashlight at night a lot is how I noticed this. I sure hope this isn't any indication of what's to come.

Anyone else have this happen?

iOS 9.1 beta 2

No issues with any of this.

Just some info if your thinking about doing beta...
I haven't had any issues what so ever on 9.1 beta 2. Battery is at 71% with 3hr 35min of usage, 7 hr 8 min of standby. 30% home& lock screen, 24% safari.

I guess I am the only one with this particular issue. I'm installing the Public beta 9.1 right now. Hopefully this fixes it. :(

Looks like something is running in the background. I know you have rebooted, how is your battery doing. If something is hammering the CPU the battery would also be taking a hit. Did it do this from the beginning or after you installed your apps.

My 6S+ was restored via iTunes and after about 5-10 minutes of slight lag, all smoothed out and it running great.

My battery was doing fine. I didn't notice if it was doing it earlier because I wasn't using the flashlight in control center, which is what led to me find this. It was weird because it would lag really bad in the control center (and the flashlight toggle wouldn't work at all) but everything else on the phone was buttery smooth, even while all this was going on.

Spoke too soon. It's happening in the beta too. It has something to do with enabling control center from the lock screen and turning on the flashlight at that time then unlocking and bringing up control center again. I'm having a hard time recreating it but it happens quite often again.

Same thing happening for me after upgrading to iOS 9

Did you do an update or install any new software?

I assume you have rebooted your phone.
Hi - yes, the double-button reset. No changes made, not even recently docked with my PC. It does go away after a reboot, at least a while. Seems maybe related to music playing while the dock is accessed. Will kick it to Apple support if it keeps happening. Thanks.

My phone is still doing this on 9.2 public beta. I've sent it to Apple support but never heard back.

I've narrowed it down to something involving the ambient light sensor, control center, and switching orientation. I am able to somewhat replicate the issue because I noticed it was happening everynight right before bed.

I turn on my flashlight through the control center, turn off my light, head over to bed and lay down, it switches to landscape, I pull up control center again and this is when it goes all wacky. I can't replicate it 100% of the time but it is happening about every other night as I do these exact tasks. I can't really take it into the apple store because i can't replicate it under their conditions. Apple told me to let them know when I can replicate it 100% of the time for them and they will look into it.

I've had the same thing happen to me. For me, it all started when I tried to turn the flashlight on while in an app showing a video ad. For some reason, things got all wonky.

Anyone find a resolution? This started happening to me last night. Had used my phone to hike out on this trail toward a bluff. Shut if off for a few seconds and it froze up and wouldn't turn back on. Not a good situation to lose your flashlight.

I have this problem too, if I have my flashlight on for a minute or so, then use control center to turn it off, it turns off but comtrol center freezes. When I go back the flashlight icon is on, even though the flashlight is off. Everything else works, but if I try to toggle the flashlight when it's like this, it just lags, and doesn't do anything. The only way I can fix it is by restarting, or by waiting for a while, but waiting only works some of the time.

I have had this exact same problem since getting iPhone 6S on launch day with every version of iOS.

To recap:

Symptoms

Case 1: In Control Centre, flashlight icon shows as on when LED is off. Pressing the icon locks the UI for about 5 seconds, then the icon flickers off and then back on again. It is not possible to turn the LED on. Note that even when the UI is locked, touch events are still queued. Tapping the icon repeatedly will lock the UI for a long time.

Case 2: In Control Centre, flashlight icon shows as on when LED is also on. Pressing the icon locks the UI for about 5 seconds, then the LED turns off and stays off, the flashlight icon flickers off and then back on again. It is not possible to turn the LED on.

Causes?

This only happened after I restored from an iTunes backup, and happened on two iPhone 6Ses. After factory reset on one, it never happened again (but didn't use that one as much).

I've noticed a correlation between podcast playing and the bug. I frequently use the audio and flashlight controls in Control Centre.

Workaround

Activating the camera will instantly fix the problem and you can use the torch again.

i have the same phone as you and i have this problem so often. i thought i was the only one

I have the same problem on my 6s that I've had since release day, it has reached a severe point. Every single time I turn on my flashlight and try turning it off, the UI completely freezes for a couple of seconds.

I am on iOS 9.3.2, and I have a nearly identical issue on my iPhone 6s. It is quite frustrating. Are you still getting the bug on the newer update?
