I know I waited waaay to long to get around to this, but I have an iPad 2 on 7.0.6 and I was thinking about trying to restore up to 7.1.2 before the signing window is closed.

Can anyone confirm if it's signed?

Is there a way to check what firmware is being signed without starting the restore process and being forced up to iOS 8 in the event it's not being signed?

Is there any major benefit I would see on my iPad 2 that would make it worth going 7.0.6 -> 7.1.2?

i did the upgrade last night, evasion 7.0.6 to pangu 7.1.2

it's much more responsive & less laggy. i'm glad i did it

did it the hard way though, rather start fresh

Anyone else tried it recently within the past couple hours and know if its still being signed or possbile to install 7.1.2? the sites http://api.ineal.me/tss/status and http://www.icj.me/ios/all say it is, but how often is it updated or how recent is the data?

Someone posted in another thread a few hours ago he couldnt activate which worries me. (not currently on 8 and dont wana go to it)

I just upgraded my wife's iPhone 4S from 6 to 7.1.2 successfully so Apple is still signing it.

thanks. how long do u all think it will continue to be signed?

I'm not sure but I don't think it'll be signed for very long. I just wanted to get the latest 7 version on the 4S because I'm guessing they didn't design iOS 8 to work with it very well. :(

I was actually surprised it was still being signed. Apple loves to close the doors on "old" technology to force you to upgrade.

good guess. i think its one of the first iOS that seems to genuinely be runnin slower on the 4s or oldest compatible hardware based on an Ars Technica report

i dont think apple closes the doors on firmwares because its necessarily "old tech", but for maybe other reasons

this site shows it is
http://www.icj.me/ios/

Again I checked just awhile ago with iFaith and it is being signed.
I think due to the size of ios 8 and the 16GB devices people are running into space problems during a ota upgrade, apple may leave ios 7.1.2 open for awhile

Was just speaking to a few Apple inside gurus and they said there was no word on 7.1.2 signing ending anytime soon.

If iOS 7.1.2 is still being signed, I'm thinking of downgrading. I'm kind of missing the JB.

Ah screw it, I'm gonna find out myself. About to restore.

Still being signed, as of 2:17PM EST time.

I just reinstalled and JB'd with Pangu.

One thing to note, my desktop with iTunes 11.4 failed to restore, while my PC with 11.2 successfully restored. So, if you're trying to downgrade, make sure you don't have 11.4.

I just restored my wife's 4S to 7.1.2 (then pangu'ed) with iTunes 11.4. This was at 3:07est.

Has anyone else tested this

it still works.

http://www.icj.me/ios/all
http://api.ineal.me/tss/status

if both those sites are still sayin yes for ur device, then u prolly have at leas the hour to do it.

Do it quickly if u want ios 7.1.2 (best version of ios 7 for sure, but if u hav 6 u wont be able to go back to it i think, and some think it was the best ios) as this is the longest ive ever seen apple continue to sign old iOS, so who knows how much longer.

but I do think they'll continue to leave it open for a little bit considerin the controversy of ios 8 on older devices.
