One thing irks me

They make it possible for you to get your iphone earlier if you take the time and energy to cancel your order from launch day and order for a store pick up. That shouldn't be. I realize they are not violating their shipping estimates that I signed on for when I ordered, but it breaks a "good faith" tenet to me when this is possible. Fill the online orders Apple, instead of pushing more in store orders by keeping the brick and mortar stores preferentially stocked.
So I'm still processing. Got my confirmation email 00:15 after launch.

Gold 32gb AT&T

are any att golds shipping?

From what I can tell from the forums, only those who ordered within the first 10 minutes after lannch on Apple.com are seeing their orders ship (Gold AT&T 32gb or 64gb).

I ordered my gold AT&T 32gb late (7:47am PST on 9/20) because I was about 30th in line and found out they sold out of the gold phones before they got to me. Ordered on my phone right then and there.

Mine still says "Processing items..." Any other gold AT&T 32gb orders a little later on launch "morning" seeing any changes???

Mine is on this flight too. This might be a crazy question, but is customs considered an essential job in the US government? I would hate for a government shut down to trap our phones in Alaska!

It will be processed today so not a issue before the shutdown. Customs is an essential job and would be manned at some level during the shutdown.

Now let's hope a pesky polar bear doesn't snack on our phone either!

We are seeing a lot of grey and silver orders, even inside of the 10 minute mark, that are still stuck in processing. There was definitely a shortage of gold right from the kick off. Orders placed in the first couple of minutes for gold went to back order while most of the others filled in those first three or four minutes. But now I think they are just back ordered on all models and trying to catch up.

So, since it's almost midnight in China does that pretty much mean that if you didn't get a "shipping" status change today, shipping wont continue until Friday? Or will shipping continue all week?

I ordered 2 tmo unlocked from apple.com, 1 silver 1 gold, both 32gb. The silver shipped and due in tomorrow the gold still shows "prosssseeeesssing"

Same info here. Either we're on this flight or the one that leaves in the morning. Phones were scanned in at 7:30 though so I've gotta expect that they made the flight 2hrs later. (same plane presumably, just a refuel)

Today I cancelled my 4:10am EST launch day order of a 64g AT&T space gray iPhone and placed a new order to pickup from the NYC Soho store. Took about 2 minutes for the cancellation to go back to my AT&T account before I could place the new order.

I was about to try the same thing, but I was afraid that the one or two stores that I can possibly get to would sell out while I was cancelling.

....I would. If I wanted space grey. But I think most people who are waiting for GOLD probably wont because it would be really hard to come accross one. Silver...maybe a bit more luck. And us with Tmobile pretty hard too.

I'm in the same boat as you. I've seen prior orders only take a day from China to home. Hopefully we're not in the 3 day holiday window but with people stating we won't get it until Friday, that seems reasonable.

Well, my UPS status was not showing an estimated delivery date until just now: Friday, 10/4/2013 by End of Day. So it looks like the order was impacted by the holiday, but the one-day delivery (2 days with the international date line factored in) will get it here this week!

I'm still disturbed to see that Verizon isn't shipping much yet. Seeing a lot of ATT and TMo. Meanwhile my sisters Verizon is still Processing Items. She just HAD to order Gold! She finished in 4 minutes after sales opened.

I'm just glad I'm only having to wait til next week where gold won't be available in stores for at LEAST a month. I'd rather wait the processing and shipping time than wait for one to be in stores and stressing about tracking it down, I just don't have time to do that.

Mine also just started showing me a delivery date of Friday. So excited to finally get it but a little sad we could potentially have it tomorrow if not for the holiday lol.
