i too ordered my phone @ 10am and it also changed to preparing to ship..
just imagine about the people who ordered their phones after 12pm.. they have a long way to wait..
Does any body have idea what is the minimum time for preparing to ship to get shipped??

There's no minimum time. Some people got theirs shipped within 6 hours. I myself had to wait for about 55 hours.
It would be helpful if we knew not only order time, but what color, model, and carrier they ordered...because some models are shipping much faster than others.

Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case. Many people who got their coveted "preparing for shipment" today, were those in the 7-10 days group. If you were always in the "October" group, doesn't seem like there has been any movement.
Ordered mine on the 22nd... *sigh* and still processing.
Did anyone's charge get reversed?
My B of A account was debited and now the charge is gone? I've had this happen before where the charge reappears a few days later so I'm not optimistic I got a free phone.

Haha I'd be more worried about getting a phone at all if someone made a mistake somewhere.
I called twice. The first time they pretty much said it will ship when it ships. The second time the lady said she would upgrade my shipping to 2-3 day shipping but I haven't seen anything change in the status.
First charge is just an authorization. Depends on your bank how long it stays there, in my case 10 days. They don't actually charge you until the phone ships. Every few days apple authorizes $10 on my card, then it goes away, I think they are just making sure my card is active. Some people had their card authorized for the full amount, but that only happened with my AT&T phone order.
