Haven't seen or heard anything else about this, surprisingly.

Of course, it happened to Pakistan rather than a "friend", so perhaps that's why news has been so limited?

Damage was less than anticipated because the epicenter of the quake was far deeper in the ground than originally estimated--something like 84 km (just over 50 miles) beneath the surface. At that deep, you'll feel shaking but most buildings will survive.
