Nope, it will be a couple more generations before I even consider upgrading. At the prices they are charging now I want to get 3 or 4 years of use out of a phone at minimum.

So much like for this post, I have the 128 Gb 7+ Jet Black and Apple forcing us to go with either 64gb or 256 is stupid and petty, they are trying to burn a hole in our pockets, I am sure they gonna release a 128GB version next year, this year was a sad year.

The 8+ is not a big upgrade, if they would have added the Apple ProMotion like they did with the new iPads I might have considered it, but I will skip this year and wait out for next year when they start integrating the ProMotion features to their devices. The iPad works so smooth with the feature too.

I think it would be a waste of money to upgrade to the 8+ if you have a 7+, now if you have a 6 or 6S+ then it might be worth the upgrade.
I have to agree with this. Going from my 7+ 128 it's either a downgrade in storage or more expensive. For somebody who upgrades every year at release, I have no reason to do so this year. I am happy with my 7 though so I'm fine with it. Just a bit disappointed in this year's releases.

I'm upgrading from my 7plus to the 8plus!

I signed up for the IUP so I could always have the new phone each year, so I might as well take advantage of it! I just couldn't justify the jump in cost to go to the X when I'm sure there will be issues to be fixed for next years model!
I think I’m here with you on that. I too am on the IUP and I rather pay a monthly fee for a newer phone than for one I’ve had already for a year. Sure the upgrades are not to the screen like the X but, in my situation with the IUP, I can Justify it for a better camera sensor, faster chip, portrait lighting, wireless charging, new glass back (better grip IMO), and select a new color.

That's the good news about most iPhones, they see years of iOS support. I would say most iPhone users should receive at least five years before they are no longer supported. Which I think in between that time, most consumers will upgrade before that or require a battery replacement.

I skipped the upgrade this year, I don't use plus sized phones due to grip issues with arthritis, the iPhone 8 update is very incremental, also I want to see how the glass sandwich works out this year on the 8. The 4/4S was stainless so not to keen on Aluminium as the choice for the X's poor cousin, I can see breakages on the horizon. The X is just to expensive for a phone and will have hardware/software issues I'm sure as its a revision one. I have to say I found the line up this year disappointing, the X did not impress me and the notch I found personally quite ugly, and the 8 was just a 7 with a few tweaks but heavier and more fragile. Also I don't need 256GB of storage but 64GB is not enough, 128GB was the sweet spot for many I think. The cost for even a basic 8 with Applecare in the UK is £978 pounds which is eye watering. More importantly I need to look at a new iPad later in the year as my Air 2 is feeling tired and glitchy and I need to see what iOS 11 does to it, hopefully it will make it till next year but the 10.5" iPad is very tempting.

Yep this is my situation also, I use my 7 plus camera a lot, so any upgrade to this is a bonus to me. I'll happily upgrade to the 8 plus.

For the X, I'd rather let them work out the bugs for another year.

I've had a 7 since last launch day, but just bought a perfect 7+ 128gb for $450 on Craigslist that has AppleCare + until June 2019. I wanted to try the larger size out (more than just handling at the store) and take advantage of the better camera. From my purchase price standpoint, I don't see a benefit of forking over over $900 for a brand new 8+ with AppleCare+ compared to this 7+.
