It's fast enough. It's a non issue in real life. You might not like the animation which is a totally fair opinion but it really does not make the phone less usable. You're measuring milliseconds.
It's not fast enough. It's not a non-issue. It does make the phone less usable. I interact with my phone with multiple actions in sequence of each other. All of these actions take longer than they should. When I'm done e-mailing a photo, it took me a few seconds longer than it did on iOS 6. Now you may think, what's a few seconds? Yeah, when you're in a relaxed position reading some forum on the internet like MacRumors, it doesn't matter much. When you're on the go and about to catch a train, a few seconds mean a lot. However, even when I'm not on the go I'd like the interface to be as quick and snappy as possible as well, because I use my phone to do stuff, I don't use it to watch pretty animations.

Just curious, what device are you using and did you turn on reduced motion?

It just sucks and this needs to be fixed ASAP. :(

Have you gone into an Apple retail location, or called Apple Care? I mean, if the animations are truly getting slower and slower like the thread title claims, then you should contact Apple about it.

How motion under 1 sec is making the phone less usable
Depends on different people's sense if usability--for some it certainly can make a difference as far as their usability experience goes. (Keep in mind, it's usability that is mainly discussed and not really usefulness, which might seem similar but are different enough.)

I said they are getting 'worse', which is a subjective interpretation of an actual event. Since it's subjective, the interpretation can be subject to change while the actual event remains unchanged. You get that right?

iPhone 5.

I actually prefer the Reduce Motion fade in animations. One size never fits all unfortunately.
It's not really an animation, it's just a fade. Makes iOS feel very static. For example, opening folders on iOS 6 made the home screen slide away, now opening a folder is just a fade. Not really appealing.

There is only one solution: reduce the duration of current animations by 50%.

That is a solution for some, but certainly not the only solution, especially given many people who don't even care for any animations at all as they aren't useful or even desirable to them in any way.

That's kind of how I feel. I love my iPad, but when it comes to phones, I use Android, and prefer it (though I hate Android OS on tablets). I always find myself simplifying my Android interface as much as possible. It's nice in a launcher like Nova Launcher to be able to do exactly as TC03 was describing, speeding up or slowing down animations. Nova Launcher is fairly quick by default so I leave it alone. But it gives you the option to make them even faster or even instantaneous.

I had no issues with all the default movement/animations in iOS 6, and I actually quite liked it. I feel like iOS 7 tried to go a little too far to create a lively interface. It's like they flattened the graphical elements and overcompensated with all the motion to bring the "real-ness" back into the interface.

A lot considering you have to wait for these animations maybe a hundred times a day.

Hundreds? It's time to put down your phone, go outside, and go do something else; ANYTHING else.

So you're saying you're basically just here hatin and trolling without any proof that it's neither faster nor slower than iOS6? Yeah, we get it.

They are slower in iOS 7 (as in longer duration, more pronounced, and don't allow for any interaction until they are fully complete). Some people don't care about that, other people would like it to be improved, and others don't even care for any animations at all. That's really all it comes down to.

Unlock phone, open app, close app, lock phone. A simple task like this already shows me 4 animations. Use your phone over 25 times a day and your easily above 100.

Second, I'm not trolling. I'm merely saying the more I use iOS 7, the more annoying these animations become. I don't see why I need proof to express the opinion that something's annoying.

You're being a bit disrespectful, just read my words with an open mind and you wouldn't have had to ask these questions.

Sorry, but I can't just "give" you this one....

You complain of an actual event, yet you're not open to finding a real solution (other than a comparison to a previous ios). I completely understand you're disappointed with the performance of your phone's ios, but a complaint with no real interest in a solution is somewhat irrational.

I only asked if you had done anything "concrete" about it, yet you replied in a somewhat curt manner - which might be subjective, but you opened the door to that one....

Got it?

He didn't say slower and slower, but worse and worse... Meaning it's becoming more irritating.

And do you seriously think anybody at an Apple store is going to attempt to fix a design flaw of the OS? I can appreciate your effort here if it's sincere, but the issue is more deeply rooted than Apple store employees can fix.

Also, read my post about how it can affect you. Unlock your phone straight into an iMessage with the keyboard already open, visible, and animations appear complete... Yet I can type 2-6 letters before it responds to my touch.

Once it's missed just the first letter, which you only realize several letters later, and after autocorrect has changed the word to something different, you have to backspace the whole way to the start and begin again. Not very convenient.

Once you see the keyboard, it should start working. Not 1-2 seconds later.

Even when reduce motion is turned on, when you open photos and tap a photo, it still zooms at you. Having reduce motion on does not fix the entire OS, it just fixes the flying icons.

The inconsistencies kill me.

Yeah, it seems to address almost all the general OS (outside of app) animations, but doesn't deal with in-app animations (or the multitasking animations).

If you don't like iOS7, go buy an android handset and get on with life. Whining here is going to get you precisely nowhere.

It gets me to the point that I can discuss it with other people, which is precisely what forums are meant for.

I like them and I think they are beautiful. Does that mean I am wrong and you are right?
Well...

1. For me it's not a solution.
2. Apple did not design iOS to have these fades, that's merely a quick fix. It's actually a step back from iOS 6. I'm guessing Apple doesn't like them that much either.

Not saying you're wrong, but I am saying that is not a real solution. If it works for you, that's fine, but it's not a real solution, it's a fix.

Solution needs a problem to exist, so your point is moot in the context of the discussion.
