Possibility of Arrival Before the 19th

So my order has been updated to "Prepared for Shipment." I know that in itself doesn't say anything about a delivery date, but it got me wondering:

1. Has Apple ever announced a "delivers by" date like this before? I've only seen the "available on" or "ships" dates.

2. Is there any historical precedent of Apple delivering this earlier than expected? I know that if the answer to 1 is no then most of the context of my question is negated, but has anyone ever seen an Apple product ship before the expected date?

3. As it says "delivers by," Apple would not be going back on their word to deliver before Friday. What is the value, for Apple, of a bunch of time and effort to ensure that all the new phones are delivered on the same day?

i have also been upgraded to prepared for shipment. Dont think it means a thing except we really have a phone comming which is fine with me. They said delivery the 19th and looks like apple is going to come through.

they will tell Fedex

too hold the phones till the 19th they will go too the selected cities and wait till the 19th tons of people will post I should have it tomorrow starting probably the 16th because they are being held at Fedex a few renegade orders might get delivered on the 18th possibly even the 17th. but Apple is pretty strict on there releases.
 
It would be cool if someone here who worked at Fedex ordered the 3GS and then took it home with them like a few days before anyone else got them shipped/delivered and then took pics :) sickkkk.
 
My status has also been upgraded... this is exciting!

The way I see it, they are going to be shipped on Monday (obviously FedEx doesn't operate on Sundays), arrive at the local FedEx stations on Tuesday (cuz that's how overnight works), employees and management are going to get tired of skirting around the big pile of boxes that are being held and they're going to be delivered a day or two early (Wednesday or Thursday).

Of course I'm probably setting myself up for disappointment but hey, a guy can hope right?
 
Is this ordering through Apple or AT&T? I ordered through AT&T on the 10th and I'm still In Progress. I ordered in-store anyways, so it'll go to AT&T, but hopefully it'll ship sometime early this week so that I know for sure that I'll get it on the 19th.
 
This thread is referring to the status updates for those that ordered from Apple.

I don't think AT&T is following the same process.
 
AHHHH!!! this wait is killing me..this is my first iphone and I just can't wait to get one..

Well now I'm concerned.

Mine still stays "Not yet shipped" and I placed the order with Apple.com on the evening of the 8th. Still says "Delivers by June 19" though, but it seems as though others are being "prepared for shipment."

LOL. Perhaps my pre-order should have been a Pre order.

Will need to wait for Sales support to open in the AM - there's apparently no email help.

yah i ordered mine on the 8th too a few hours after WWDC but mine still says "not yet shipped" maybe its alphabetical or by distance or something
