I try to type one but I usually find myself typing two because in my work it is required that we use two.

I thought that 2 spaces went out years ago with the fall of the typewriter.

I found out about 2 like a year ago when I was proofreading a paper and I was like "dude you have too many spaces" lol

I still do one

For some reason, I want to say older versions of Word use to automatically include 2 spaces which may have started the problem.

Just one space here in the UK. Thats what we are taught.

The problem I have is putting a question mark at the end of a sentence, do you leave one or none.

EG

What is your name?

or

What is your name ?

I could never work it out

It's two spaces after a . or ? or ! at the end of a sentence.
It's one space after a , or ; in the middle of a sentence. I thought everyone who went to school in and English speaking country would know that. This is 1st and 2nd grade stuff we are talking about here.

I never knew people used two spaces after a sentence. I do all of my university work with one space too. I'm Canadian afterall, we make it easy on ourselves.

dukebound, its right after, so;

What is your name?

I also think the weather is awesome right now. I'm almost finished drinking a pitcher of Long Island Iced Tea while laying out on my back deck.

I'm currently listening to my iPhone on shuffle.

I TYPE TWO SPACES!!! Am I yelling out loud?

You shout and I'll bang a drum. This is almost as odd as Gov. Sandford cover story about hiking the Appalachian trail while he's balling his eyes out in Argentina. I went to school in the 50s and 60s and by 2nd grade we knew it was 2 spaces after the period at the end of a sentence. Don't they still teach punctuation in school today?

Two. That's what I learned in school, back --baaaaaaaaaaack-- in the days of typing class.

Two spaces were supposed to improve the reader's chance of appreciating the end of sentence condition. Now I still rather dislike software that removes extra spaces I put between sentences.

As for question marks or other punctuation, there's no space between the word and the mark, at least for American writers. I always thought an exclamation point could use that space so sometimes I provide it. Let the recipients of my posts or mails sue me if they don't like it !!! and the more exclamation points, the merrier. :)
