A couple of you sort of held my hand as I went through this change over of DD's. I'm comfortable with what I've done to date based on your clear specific directions. After I shift the partitions in the old HDD, I'm just going to enjoy the MBP until I get antsy to slay another technical dragon.

Well and Truly Done

Old HDD is in the external enclosure, original partition resized, second partition added and set as TM target volume, full backup underway. All appears to be smooth. I'll repurpose the WD Passport I originally used with TM. I like the portability of the external drive in the enclosure for my main b/u's.
