Besides all the hardware defects, the main one I am interested into know about is the responsiveness after you wake it up.
I did notice that my iPhone 3G isn't as fast as the previous one when switching from one app to another.
What firmware version does your iPhone have?
How much free space your iPhone has?
I will update mine Today and hope to see a difference.

BTW: ask for a replacement and forget about the defects, be sure to inspect the replacement one before leaving the store.

the responsiveness is fine it takes a while 3-2 sec to wake up
2.0.1
i wiped it now but it still takes a while to wake up

thanks i got a reservation for 5 tommorow lets hope they exchange it so what do i tell them i have a light leak on the left side and my silent/ringer switch isnt straight and volume up/down switch is shaking and then ask for a replacement?

Tell them what your first post states with all of the problems. They should then give you a new one, if not demand a new iPhone. It should not be difficult with all of these problems.

im gonna take off my bestskinsever off my iphone 3g are you sure they will exchange it i dont want to get a scratched phone back

No offense mate, but do you want us to take the phone back for you?

You're not doing anything wrong...you're not conning them out of a phone...just take it back and tell them what's wrong with it. TBH, 1 or 2 of those defects would warrant a replacement...let alone 8.

Dude u just told everyone on this forum what the problem is with the phone, what trouble would u have telling someone on the phone or in the store the same thing?

They're going to replace it no problem, just print out your post, bring it into the store with you, hand it to the Genius, and just stand there quietly. They will take care of the rest.

WOOT just got a new iphone in the mail today awsome condition no light leak no problems at ALL now im waiting for a new best skins ever =)

Or just call Apple and see if they will ship you an advanced replacement unit like they did with me. There are no more loaner phones with the 3G, they just ship you your new one right away with a box to ship the old one back in, or you can sell the old one on eBay and pocket the extra if you sell it for more than $399 or $499.

How did you manage to get them to do that? I'm trying to get an advance replacement as well because I don't live close to an Apple store.

Actually I'm on with Apple right now and they're telling me that they can do an advanced replacement for me ($29 though). They're going to send me a brand-new 3G and then I can just send the defective one back using the box and label they're going to be sending me.
