I really doubt that. They’re not doing this for a one time levy. They’re investing all this money into tech to continue to charge the higher price.

they’ll have an iPhone 9 to replace the 8, and a new high end X .
Like it or not, the price of a flagship phone has just increased to $1000.
The old 649 pricing is now midrange. This year is the year we get used to that.

I agree a price drop for the current iPhone X for next year, but I also believe there will be even a higher increase in price point when Apple offers the rumored 6.4 inch iPhone X With higher storage amounts.

Will there be a more affordable X style option? Yes. But I also think Apple is going to enjoy the ASP bump and continue having a new flagship $1000 phone.

I hope you’re right, but seems too good to be true. Phone prices have increased a lot this year. Note 8 is only $70 less. It doesn’t seem very Apple-like (or like any company) to drop the price of a phone $200-$300. I’m hoping for an X Plus next year, but I’m dreading the price. At most, I think Apple would drop X to $899 base and make X Plus $999.

I have an 8 plus now. I'm going to try and get a X on launch day. If not the I am perfectly fine with the 8 Plus and get the X later when it is available. Either way is fine with me..
