I listen to music on shuffle during the workday and sometimes like to hear more music from the currently playing artist. I modified the play entire album shortcut to let me choose:
- play the entire album and continue the random shuffle
- add more randomly selected songs from the current artist to up next.

Am I the only one who wants a shortcut for something but the app I'm using doesn't support it? ?

Admittedly I haven't looked at these shortcuts, but it feels like every shortcut I've ever looked at has either already had that feature in the app/iOS, or I couldn't care less that you can now do "X". ?

I like and often use these:
• Tip Calc shortcut
•I'm Getting Pulled Over
• Drive Home
• Share Wi-Fi
• Directions Home
• Travel Time

This one’s for Tesla owners who aren’t afraid to DIY: using the Toolbox Pro app, I made a shortcut that screenshots the current screen, parses for addresses, then sends that address to the Tesla app. Allows you to send an address to the Tesla nav screen even from apps which don’t support it (looking at you, ABRP). I set it to trigger on triple back tap for convenience.

Like what? There may be workarounds, especially if the service underlying the app has an API.

The select Apple TV prompt in shortcuts seems really buggy, not just in that prompt, but just trying to make one from scratch too. It just doesn’t want to let me select the single Apple TV on our network.

Every year we like to take a fresh look at the different shortcut options that are available to use with the Shortcuts app on iOS devices and Mac, just to see what's new. We've found several useful shortcut options and rounded them up for MacRumors readers.

  • Internet Radio Search - Internet Radio Search is designed to allow you to search for, select, and play various internet radio stations.
  • Play Entire Current Album - If you're playing an Apple Music song and you want to listen to the entire album, this is the shortcut to get. It finds the album that the currently playing track belongs to and then plays the full album.
  • Search On - Search On is a search anything tool. When you run the shortcut, it provides a sheet of options, so you type in what you're looking for and then you can choose to search Google, YouTube, Reddit, Instagram, Amazon and other sources.
  • Shazam++ - Shazam++ lets you Shazam a song and then open it on your favorite music platform, giving you a quick way to listen to Shazamed content on any music service of your choice. It also provides artist, album, and song info, lyrics, sharing tools, and more.
  • iPod Shuffle - iPod Shuffle creates a random 100 song shuffle list of the songs you have added to Apple Music over the years. You can select different timeframes, such as the past year, past two years, or past three years.
  • Redditer - Redditer is a simple shortcut that lets you go directly to your favorite subreddit.
  • Built-in Sounds - This shortcut plays the Background Sounds built into iOS devices, but you don't need to go to the Accessibility settings to get to them.
  • Open App on Apple TV 1 - This simple shortcut is designed to wake up your Apple TV and launch the app that you select, such as the TV app.
Do you have a favorite Shortcut? Let us know in the comments and we may feature it in a future video.

It's cool to find that my iphone has a few ambient background sounds (via the Built-in Sounds shortcut) - but what a fiddly mess dealing with shortcuts is! I've never felt a burning need to reduce the number of taps from, say, 4, to 1 in order to save precious time getting to a thing marginally quicker. Shortcuts (in my experience of using it) requires just as many taps to set up... *shrug*

I can't find the Ipod Shuffle shortcut. Apple shows the page for it, app store shows shortcut app only. Searched in the app and no results.

Any help finding it?

Sounds good. Fancy sharing the link?

That's awesome, thanks.

Is there a list somewhere of other setting urls to use?

I would love to make a shortcut to toggle notifications for a work app that I only rarely need turned on. Even just opening the app's notification page (or 'notification styles' in general) would be a time saver. Any advice on where to find that sort of info?

Y’all need to just let your phone manage its own charging. It knows better than you.
It doesn't. Physics are universal, they apply to all the subjects in the world no matter if they know better or not.

Battery lasts longer if it's only charged to 80%, not to a 100%. There is a mechanism in iPhone that tries to prevent overcharging, but it's a machine learning algorithm, so not really reliable.

Either you disconnect charger manually at around 80%, or via Shortcut, or replace battery in the phone every three years, which is not really good for the environment and for the wallet.

Shortcuts is garbage compared with macrodroid or tasker. I can’t even automate when and how my VPN connects. Apple, do better.

I am using a very niche one, that i wrote a while ago, that goes to the NYTimes Spelling Bee Forum of the current day, identifies the Spelling Bee Grid, takes a screenshot of the website, trims the screenshot to only the grid and displays it on the Apple Watch (or iPhone). :D

Sounds good. Fancy sharing the link?
Not sure how, given it requires two third party apps to work, hence why I said “for those who can DIY.” Here’s a screenshot of what I did though. Then add the shortcut to trigger on triple back tap in (IIRC) Accessibility settings.

Shortcuts are one of my favorite things to play with on iOS. Right now one of my top used shortcuts is something I made for my Apple Watch to let me add tasks right to Microsoft Todo since they don't make a watch app.

I only have 2 shortcuts I use:
  • I have this on my watch for when I go for a run, it connects my headphones to my watch, starts a podcast and then starts the run workout outdoors.
  • The second is on my phone and opens a particular spreadsheet (stats recording for a sport) and then set my AW to a particular face.

Glad I was able to add the shortcuts to my phone from this page as I find the shortcuts app and the process for creating them myself totally baffling!

Yah! I can pay attention to these articles again! Prior to my 9th gen iPad, I had an iPad Air still on ios8! Search On has caught my eye. Otherwise, I use it as a gaming device, and still prefer to do internet on my desktop computer.
