I tried different drivers and got a little over 2000 3dMark06 but doesn't allow to change brightness.

That's just a typo...its DDR3 RAM. I wish it wasn't though...I'd jump all over 1066MHZ DDR2 if that were possible lol.

I went to the kingston website and here's the compatibility list for model # KTA-MB1066K2

Notice that the Aluminum MacBooks are on this list...it's got to be DDR3

Well, now that I've seen the update to this, and am selling my old macbook, I'm going to put the 4Gb 667MHz back in the old macbook and update the ram in my new one with 4Gb 800MHz. This is a very good thing, since the video chip uses the ram, it should improve the video somewhat.

If you could post some before and after stats when you do this, it would be appreciated. I'm debating on doing this, but don't know if it will really be worth buying RAM for a minor performance increase.

I would also really appreciate this.
If you could do it by next weekend too... ;) Haha.

I have some on order, going to pick it up tomorrow. I'd prefer to get cas 4 ram, but only Kingston makes it, it's not in stock, and costs $250+.

...that's not worth the cost for the "minor performance" difference... you could use the $200.00 saved on many other mods... don't waste your $$ on the CAS 4 RAM until the price comes way down...

Just as a side note, I benchmarked the Macbook with the 800Mhz Ram in it while the battery was removed. I got very slightly over 2000 3dMark06 with the battery removed. I know that OSX throttles the CPU when the battery is removed but I don't know if the firmware of the Macbook does the same in Windows because according to the sensors in Windows, it stayed at 1.6Ghz for the CPU. So I sill try benchmarking again probably later on this week with the battery in and see if I can get better numbers.

I cannot say how minor it would be, since its shared RAM with the GPU it could help the GPU a noticeable amount to have faster RAM. I didn't get this ram, as I said it's not in stock and I'm picking some up today. IF it were available, and were at a reasonable price, maybe $60 or less, I'd buy it.

Did the upgrade. Yes it's worth it IMO. :D I don't know how to upload xbench here, if someone helps me with that I'll do it. The overall score didn't change much, but I think it's a lot for only changing the ram from 667 to 800 MHz, both 4GB. It went from 116.70 to 122.92. Memory score went from 157.41 to 166.81, the quartz graphics went from 146.66 to 155.60, but the surprise was the user interface test, that went from 183.40 to 229.28.

The computer does seem slightly more responsive, and wow is behaving a bit better.

OH, and I forgot to save the Xbench score from my old 2.4 gig Macbook before I did the wipe, but I can do it after I put the 4GB 667MHz back in.

Which brand did you use? If not expensive, I'll try it. I had Corsair, it freezes up sometimes.

What do you consider better? Could you site some frame-rates (along with your current location/display settings) because this would be the reason I'd make this upgrade because WoW is the only game I play regularly on my WhiteBook.

Framerates have been higher, windowed mode works better, going in and out of spaces is with wow in them is smother. Things like that. I didn't do any objective testing, but more memory throughput has been noticeable. I'm looking forward to the hard drive upgrade.

Well it's good to hear that the improvement is noticeable. I'm going to order some 800MHZ RAM soon.

Can you please tell me which ram models you are succesfully using?

This one seems to work:
"Patriot SO-DIMM 2 GB DDR2-800 (PSD22G8002S)"

regards, me

I would assume that any DDR2 SO-DIMM would work. I have never encountered a situation where I upgraded the ram and the computer didn't take it unless the ram was defective.

Not that it would work or anything, but has anyone tried 8Gb on one of these white nvidia macbooks?
