Does seem like it.

Lol, AnandTech is my default go-to site for technical analysis and reviews. I usually don't even bother reading reviews from others. :p

Me too, but the problem is, their reviews come out (and I am not exaggerating) months after the product is released, which kind of defeats the purpose of a review.

Hmm, maybe the delay was just for the Pro 12.9? Their Air review was published in October 2013 and Air 2 review in November 2014. Hardly what I would consider months. :)

Admittedly, my decision making process is far simpler. It basically boils down to a.) do I want it and b.) do I have a better use for my money. :p

Just pick up a pro before tomorrow to get the staples deal and play around with it to see what you think. The 12.9" seems like a device you need more time with than a few minutes in a store anyway.

Either way it's win win. Keep the 12.9 and get it on sale,or return it for the 9.7 if it seems a better fit. That's what I'm doing.

The 12.9 iPP needs some time of usage to understand why it is so great. If took me nearly as week or so, but than I did not miss my Air any more. I sold it too, because i don´t want to charge a third device after the iPP and the iPhone.

If the external drive is in the network, you can use FileBrowser to access it from the iPad.
*shuffles through drawer full of old intern hard drives*

Haha, I'm very organized with my file system and organization. Literally nobody else here is and believe me, I've tried. We have one network drive and it's tiny, slow, and every time someone puts something on it they make a new folder in the root. People refuse to clean it up because there are too many Indesign links going all over the place. I don't mess with print as much so I just don't even care and keep most of my own stuff in Dropbox and only put it on the network when someone needs it or I can quickly send them a share link.

Great review - I always appreciate Rene's take on things. For those of us coming from older iPads, this is going to be a fantastic upgrade.

It is curious to me that 3D Touch is not offered in either of the Pro iPads. Makes me wonder about the future of that feature.
Supposedly Apple couldn't scale the tech in time for its release. We should see this in gen 2, which is what I'll be waiting for. And more apps. And a better OS. And more RAM. And....

The 3D Touch is likely to do with the size of the screen, I'm sure they'll overcome the challenge.
Something they could possibly do in the meantime, and a suggestion I've made to them, is implementing a variation of 3D Touch using the Apple Pencils pressure sensitivity.

I think just "better OS" would go a long way. I'm finally on board with the iPad as my main computer, but I can't 100% rely on it for everything yet. I need more apps to support split screen or, at the very least, slide over. I need core audio access to open up a little more. And then there are those couple of tasks that I still need to log on to my computer for that my iPad just can't do. I can't 100% blame it on the iPad because they're actually due to app limitations, but still.

That being said, I think iOS 10 is going to make iPad Pro owners VERY happy.
