The thing is, wouldn't you guys expect to have had something more than a rumur about chips from The Inquirer by now if there were something to be announced this month? The rumor mill is dry regarding the Mac Pro (beyond The Inquirer).

Sadly, I really think that expectations of an October announcement are just born of wishful thinking.

well i think it's more November than October....and it's when the chips are supposed to be coming

9 to 5 Mac seem to be tipping a Macworld SF 2008 Mac Pro update.

Read all about it. They are quickly developing a great reputation for being the most reliable source of Mac rumors (our own MR aside, of course) and reading between the lines, it looks to me like they are calling a Macworld Mac Pro Harpertown launch. It's an interesting read.

I have written to their editors three times previously asking them please to find out what they could as there were so many of us anxiously awaiting news of the new Mac Pro. I think that they have delivered the goods here, and I am really expecting the release to come in January 2008 now.

calm down. they only thing they say they have heard anything about is the size. this is not at all the same sort of thing as with the nano. they are clearly saying what they would like or expect to see not revealing any information they have obtained.

Again, OEMs are not bound by the street dates of CPUs. In the next few weeks any company could get there hands on Harpertowns and build the machines and start selling them. Heck they may have them now.

Macworld at this point is definitely the latest. It may very well be true.

yes i know, but once they get them, they have to put them into the machines and such.....so November sounds better, and with Leopard as well
