i did a reinstall SANS printer drivers, languages & garage band. final drive availability went up 6GB to 99GB. better than nuttin, i guess.

If you don't have any PPC apps, you can remove the PPC coding from the computer. Download Monolingual and remove all languages you don't need. Even if you didn't install them, I promise it'll find at least 300mb-1gb still. Remove all by AppleKeyboardLayouts. Again with Architectures. Leave intel and intel 64 bit.
The only reason you would need to leave previous Architectures is if you have old Apps. Not many App makes make anything in PPC anymore.
I always run that after any fresh install.
There will be some size discrepancy. For example, my 250 gb drive actually contains 232gb. It is all about the 1gb not equaling 1gb. It's a way for the manufactures to skim money. It's common in the computing world.
