Crap. Could this mean I have a bad battery?
Because I can set down from time to time and not go crazy.
Sweet! Longer lasting battery might be the #1 perk!
LOL. I know I wouldn't have the willpower to set it down for long.
I don't think you can but they need to release a way to do so with an update ASAP! It's such a hassle to stop 20 apps at a time...
Settings > General > Usage
Then just toggle Battery Percentage "On".
This is how to do it on the 3GS; I'd assume it's the same on the 4.
That is what I am hoping and just needs a good calibration. I did start out at 100% when I started using it thanks to the long sync to get everything on it again.
Here we go again (see 3GS battery threads last year). For the most part, you can NOT tell anything about the battery in a few hours of use when you first get the phone. Relax. After a few charges/discharges over a few days, then see how things are going. Even if it seems bad after that period of time, calibrate the battery and then see.
I wouldn't trust the battery indicator until you go through a few charge cycles as I understand it auto-calibrates. Initially you have charge to full then discharge all the way to get an accurate measurement, but the charge to "full" might shift as well.
2:31 hours usage, 5:23 standby and the battery is at 73%. Been using wifi, texts, games, music, and a little camera and phone.
With a few special exceptions, apps that are in the background do not run and use little to no battery. The only reason they use any battery is that the system attempts to keep them in memory as long as possible (until a foreground task needs it), which does require a little bit of power- but not enough to waste your time trying to close things.
Generally speaking, the whole "multitasking" system is designed so that you never have to think twice about what is going on.
I officially got 4 hours and 34 minutes on my first charge using mostly safari, facebook, photo app, and some video recording and uploading all over 3G. So I was within an hour and a half of Apple's claims of 6 hours over 3G. I think I can live with that. Much better then the 3 hours my 3G was getting when new and 2 hours presently.
Nooo. This is the reason Apple spent so much time working on this multitasking system.
In fact the longest any application would be able to "run" in the background is 10 minutes, otherwise it's just waiting for you to switch back.
Well I initially charged it to 100% when I got it and it;s at 50% now. How low should I let it go before recharging. I usually charge my phone every night but have heard its good to let the batter go low and then recharge????
Just don't worry about the apps in the fast switcher. They won't hurt anything! Ios4 will manage them as needed. Simple as that!
