It's still in the works...in addition to the visual tweaks, we're making major changes to behind-the-scenes stuff, and when you've been using a homegrown solution for ten years it takes a while to get things sorted out and updated.

I can't give you a timetable for launch, but progress is being made.

Behind-the-scenes stuff? Sounds interesting!!

The site will be launched on the following day, Y being equal to the year which I'm not going to disclose. n will be the month and o+1 will be the day.

Code:
a	=	Y mod 19
b	=	int(Y / 100)
c	=	Y mod 100
d	=	int(b / 4)
e	=	b mod 4
f	=	int((b + 8) / 25)
g	=	int((b − f + 1) / 3
h	=	(19 · a + b − d − g + 15) mod 30
i	=	int(c / 4)
k	=	c mod 4
l	=	(32 + 2 · e + 2 · i − h − k) mod 7
m	=	int((a + 11 · h + 22 · l) / 451)
n	=	int((h + l − 7 · m + 114) / 31)
o	=	(h + l − 7 · m + 114) mod 31

This is a Gregorian calendar by the way.

In other words, they are going to release it on a day that ends in "Y".

Yeah MR really needs a redesign, I've been thinking of making a mockup myself, but the image on Wired is nice.

I'll be more than happy to help if they need it.

It looks ok. Kinda boring.

It may look plain on just a basic PSD Template mockup, however when its put together, the style should probably bring improvements like jQuery Animations and AJAX capabilities for the "Positive & Negative" buttons.

I'm not sure, it definitely suites MR but I'd rather see a "Mac Theme" for MR.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but does the redesign of behind-the-scenes stuff include something like an API (e.g. for use in an iOS app?).

MacRumors desperately needs a redesign. Time to bring it to the modernized age, and rid of the the antiquated look. Wired's mockup is nice, but hopefully we'll see something even more exciting.

^ I'd love a new look, but not a redesign. I love how simple and easy macrumors is now. I don't want it bloated and complicated.

Macrumors has been pending a redesign for years now.

It's the equivalent to running a restaurant and NEVER cleaning anything. Honestly, this forum is full of artsy people that would love to do it and have even offered to do so for free (even I have, out of insanity). He'd rather have the stock gradients.

I dunno why we all continue to visit this board XD

That's basically the mobile site design. It's nice but it's not great.

While I would love for Arn to get off his butt and actually redesign the site (yeah, pay for it you have to), this site is all about community. That's what makes it great.

Design changes are are really hard problem. You will piss off a certain percentage of users - it's unavoidable.

There's also a lot of risk surrounding a site redesign. There are definitely sites that have redesigned and I've stopped visiting them. Not a conscious decision, but once you lose that feel, it's hard to come back.

MacRumors redesign has been a stop and go process. As WildCowboy said, we have a lot of back-end changes to be done.

I guess the best thing is that we've made some progress in the past few weeks. Design is coming along. It's not quite there, and the backend changes still need to happen. But, realistically, I'd like to get this done in the next couple of months.
