Fif-teen Inch!! Fif-teen Inch!! Fif-teen Inch!! That would REALLY float my boat. A 15" MBA Retina Display. No, I'm not expecting it at WWDC, or ever really. But I sure would love it!

From cnBeta (original source appears to be Weiphone), "WWDC conference rumors appear again approaching Retina MBA" (non-translated).

Wei Feng network news, according to foreign media reports, informed sources said that Apple will be released in next week's WWDC conference a "never seen" the new MacBook.

Reported that the 12-inch MacBook is likely that before the rumors Retina MacBook Air . [...] It is understood, Retina MacBook Air and the current MacBook Air will be distinguished from the inside to the outside.

I don't think so. They could even have first-hand information about hardware, as the parts are basically produced in China. And Apple, at this point, already began production of a redesigned MacBook Air. But I doubt they have information on the content that will be released by Apple at a conference in the US. If I had to guess, I would say that such information never got into the ears of Chinese manufacturers.

What I would be curious about is if they did release a Retina MacBook Air, what would the GPU be?

I'm not sure Iris (and certainly not iris pro) come on the ultra low TDP Haswells...

Could the HD 5000 power a smooth retina experience?

GPU should be OK. Samsung and Lenovo have ultrabooks equivalent to the would-be rMBA, with screen resolution of 3200x1800. They use Haswell processors slightly slower than those in the current MBAs.

The real question is battery time. Those ultrabooks can last 7-8 hours per charge, decent but not 100% good enough for all-day use.

True, what would be the extra pull on battery life? The increased load on the GPU supporting the additional resolution?

I imagine if those ultra books were running OSX with the more tailored power management features, they may fair a bit better...
