Haha it's so sad but true. And that's probably also why I'm not just jumping on it but doing some research first. I have had quite a few laptops in my time so I have seen a whole range of annoying errors, some that could be fixed and others which resulted in not so happy customers.

But I really like the feel and screen on that macbook pro and for my everyday, well even my work it doesn't matter if im using win7 or osx.

How is it with bootcamp? is it strait forward and does it come with the macbook or do you need to acquire that after wards? thanks

Ha ha, you do realize that guy that you quoted has a Mac? Not saying he's a "fanboy" but I would like to know what some of you define as a Mac fanboy? Unless work requires it, if anyone is willing to spend the money on a Mac, they are obviously a fan of the Apple product, otherwise they might as well just keep on buying Windows machines year after year right? :p
With that being said, why do you need to do so much research? If you want a Mac computer, just get it. Despite the haters out there, this is not a cult or a group of people that are trying to draw you in? Why would anyone care what computer you buy? It's not like we're sitting with you everyday while you use it, so I don't buy that argument that so-called "Mac fanboys" are trying to draw people in. There's nothing to gain by doing that.

MBP are great computers! Regardless if what you read here, the majority have no issues at all.

<no offense to anyone with the following statement>

The main group at MacRumors are OCD users (myself included) where people have huge fits of the lid on their MBP is off by 1 mm or the color/light of the screen is not *absolutely* (and I mean absolutely) uniform.

I believe we even have a support group of you scratch your machine.

Its because we enjoy the computer so much.

I would not have any reservations about purchasing a Macintosh computer. They are great machines and will bring you countless hours of enjoyment.

Cheers!

Mine runs warmer then my old ppc but it's also a lot more powerful. Surfing the web I experience CPU ranges from 95 to 110f. Watching hulu anything from 135 to 145f. Handbrake for a couple hours with the CPUs at 400% the highest I've seen is 175f. You have nothing to worry about I watch hulu all the time with it on my lap with no issue.

I have had my 15" i7 since shortly after launch, upgraded the drive recently to the Momentus XT. So far it has been a wonderful machine.

hi, first post for me, but i'm in the process of planning to get an i7.

i converted to a mac last november, and i have to tell you, i was very paranoid, because i used to bash macs all the time. i am definitely singing a different tune though.

i've used PCs for a good 10 years or so, and i had installed windows 7 in boot camp. after not really using win7 for 3-4 months, i decided to axe it.

you will not be disappointed, trust me.

Still New and Still Lovin It

Since I bought my Mac, MY FIRST MAC, I love it and it has outlasted a Sony and Dell. My Sony lasted a year and half before it died, and the Dell lasted about a year before it became dreadfully slow. I bought my MBP 15" 2.5 GHz A1260 250 GB 2GB RAM back in 2008. Right after I bought it, I heard a rumor that the graphics cards where bad and then heard Apple would replace them for free. Since then, and this is true since I am getting into the forums, I haven't had an issue and I do everything on mine, from downloading movies, editing HD video (720P & 1080P), using it for college, and due a lot of video converting. I used to run my MBP for 36 hours straight converting TV shows for my iPod with the CPU hitting 190 degrees F and the GPU hitting 180 degrees F. I ran my MBP to the edge in editing videos, my racing videos, and didi it for months. I haven't done any modifications to the MBP since I got it BUT I would like to upgrade the HD now since i am running out of room. My poor graphics card has been through the loops and still running strong.

Those who don't have an issue have nothing bad to say about a Mac, and that is about 90+% on Mac users. When a minor issue come up, one person makes a big deal and these little things will pop up.

Oh, I did forget that the optical drive (CD/DVD Drive) did quit on me from coping my dvds, but the warranty replaced that. No big deal.
:apple: all the way!

great. thanks.

I read that a lot of people are REALLY annoyed with the permanent mouse acceleration that osx have especially when gaming, wow, sc2 what ever.

I also read that some people are buying this to combat it:

http://www.usboverdrive.com/USBOverdrive/Step.html

anyone have any experience with this? does it actually kill the acceleration so the mouse acts like it does in ex win7?

I never heard of this. Then, I only use the trackpad, never a mouse. I did Google it and read up about it.

I think the MBP will be fine for you. I've owned a five or six dating back to the original one around 1993 or so. Now I have a 17" i7. The LED screens are amazing.

I can't promise you won't have a problem, but if you do the Apple store will fix it quick.

I use to be a pc person that bashed people for buying macs and wasting the money on them. I guess i was that way due to gaming on the pc. But about 3 years ago i bought a mac just out of curiosity and now i can not quit them LOL. After using OSX for the last three years and going back and forth from windows and OSX i just hate to use Windows now.

I build my own gaming pc's and I have only had 1 virus on any windows computer i have ever owned, but the way OSX handles everything is so much smoother then windows IMO.

Get the Mac and you will either hate it or love it (hopefully more on the latter:D).
