I'm quoting MacTracker. It may not be up to date with the latest ram stick sizes.

Checked up on the Apple Support page, it's all over the place, Dual 1.8 listed twice, once with 4gb and one with 8gb. Even if it only has 4gigs, I could see it still being a beast.

Idk, I just guess for the 14 year old, G5 for sure. More than enough Muscle to play any PPC games he might come across ( I'm finding more and more ), its big, looks cool, and mines been rock solid.

Yep, the dual 1.8's take 4gb.

Is it just me or is MacTracker so unreliable though? I use everymac.com instead as it gives much more reliable data.

After interpreting MacTracker's info correctly, I see that it does have 8Gb listed for three of the 1.8 models and 4Gb for the last model.

Myself and many others here on MacRumors have found MacTracker to be 99.5% correct in every situation and use it as our Apple database for information. everymac.com isn't always up to date and can harbor errors for an extended period of time and is usually unused for fact checking.

The Windows key.

Ty, sweetness. Alot of people say the commands for Windows and OSX are so different, but they actually aren't to far off. I like OSX, tho I'll say at least 10.5 is no Windows Seven lol, then again. I'll have to try out the newest version of OSX on the Mac Mini I'm tempted by lol

Just found a really nice eMac here...

And I've been very, very tempted on buying this little dude...

They're both very nice Goftrey : ) I was looking at a very similar powermac for a very similar price. here

Well, I think tomorrow when I wake up, I shall get in touch with a seller and buy one out. Thankyou very much for all of your help guys, it's been extremely helpful. I could have read for hours, but this has been a lot more useful :)

Thats very similar to what I have, you could upgrade the Ram, Video card, and you'd be good to go to crush most PPC games and run movies great.

Could be wrong, primary a windows user here. But I would think a G5 is ALOT more computer for the money. I'd try to Find a G5 with at least 2gb of ram, an FX5200 or better video card, that way you won't need to deal with slow downs, and you can still crush super intensive things like for example, Doom 3, and despite being old, im sure a 14 year old is highly interested in playing a Game like that, plus, the G5 is so much nicer looking.

I bought a 1.42 GHz eMac three years ago for $200, and I can't stress how much I do not regret buying it. These things are dirt cheap (I'm sure they're even cheaper now) built like tanks, and offer incredible value for the cost. The All in one form factor eliminates the need for a seperate monitor, upgrading the RAM or installing an AirPort card is a snap, they're still powerful enough for light users, and they've got great speakers for their size and age. If cost efficiency is really important, I'd say these would be your best bet.

But if you really need more power and upgrade ability, the PM G5 would definitely be the way to go, I'm sure those things are going to be useful for a while still to come.

Scrumpymacs is the Number 1 place to get use Macs IMO. They give awesome service & pretty damn good prices.

As I've said before in the thread, G5 is the way to go. I have not even seen a eMac since middle school middle school, so I don't know much about them. I'm sure they are great.

But, G5 would be the way to go, and I would look at having one with 2-3gb of Ram when you buy it, and make it a Dual Processor, cheaper than upgrading the Ram later, I saw a Dual 1.8 G5, 3gb of Ram and a 160 Gig Hard drive with an FX5200 for 170 dollar at a local computer shop here, not sure what prices are over on Original Posters End, but a computer like that would have tons of power for a 14 year old.
