My conern is if its worth me using it or its just a waist of time. What is your concern? How does the commercial show it being used?
To me, iMessage is amazing. I would say 80% of my family members and friends have iPhones, and iMessage has made it very easy for me to communicate with them. I rely on iMessage more than phone calls because I get zero signal at work. It's free and reliable.
Wow that's cool. Thanks for the info.you text anyone, anywhere in the world who has an iPhone for free
And you can see when delivered, read and when they are replying.
I don't see any downside to using it.

I like iMessage but for the life of me I can't ever get them synced between my iPhone and iPad (something I thought was supposed to be fixed with ios 6)
I love the ability to send via my MBP and iPad.
That's strange. Messages between my iPhone and MBP stay synced. Is your iPad setup to receive at the same addresses and phone numbers as your iPhone?
It should allow it if you're running iOS 6.
Is your phone number listed in your Apple ID account?I thought so. My iPhone phone number won't show up in imessage on either my ipad 3 running ios 6 or my 2012 MacBook Air running 10.8.2. I am confused as to how to get it to show up. All my email address have appeared just fine.

This is my favorite part. I like being able to have the option to sit down at my laptop and continue my conversation from there.
What is mbp?

If so, try turning off iMessage on your MBA and iPad, restart devices, and restart iMessage.
If that hasn't resolved the problem:
On your MBA, open Messages>Preferences>Accounts
You will see a box labeled "You can be reached for messages at"
Your phone number should appear in the list - make sure the box is checked
On your iPad:
Settings>Messages>Send & Receive>You can be reached by iMessage at:
Your phone number should appear in the list - make sure the box is checked.
Good luck!
It's not as if you lose something if iMessage isn't great for you, or if you don't communicate with many (or any) others with an iDevice. The OS does the thinking, determining whether the other party's device is available for an iMessage, or needs a traditional text.
I much prefer iMessage for its flexibility over SMS/MMS, but I don't have to toggle between them, I just say what I want, and the OS takes care of the rest. Best of both world.
