Discount...

I might be a tad confused when you all speak of the corporate discount. I work for the county where I live, I went in to At&t and showed them proof and they added it to my account and it accepted. I got my first bill yesterday and saw that it hadn't taken place and the rep says it takes about 2 to 3 billing cycles before it applies. And they all saw that I had the iphone. When I first signed up the guy argued with me but he said come back after you've signed up and I'll put it on and if it takes it then you get the discount.

No, the AT&T reps either lie or are not trained properly. I called AT&T the day before I bought my iphone and asked if my corp discount would apply. The rep said yes, so I confirmed by asking again and he said yes again. When I log into my account, my company's corp number is on the page, but when the bills come, they are full price. Called to complain and managed to get $20 out of them. I love the iphone but don't appreciate being given misinformation. Guess they are just as underhanded as every other phone company, though.

That's $20 bucks off each month or they just gave you a credit for one bill?

The way around the corporate rate plan discount is to have a family plan and make sure the primary number is not an iPhone. We have a family plan with 3 lines on it, 2 iPhones and one cheap phone that we ported our land line number to. I use that line as the primary so the discounting piece of their billing system doesn't see an iPhone first and I get my discount every month on my bill, and have been since June. Multiple AT&T employees also said it's a way around it. So if your discount will be more than $10/month, just add a 3rd line for $9.99 and use that as the primary line on the account. My total bill is a little over $100/month for 3 phones, 2 of which are iPhones.

My girlfriend would have the coca cola discount which is like 26%, which is the largest AT&T has I believe. So what you're saying is, grab another line make it the main line and then the discount will be applied to our bill?

Yes

Make primary line a non iphone line and they will take the discount off that line.

The way it works for us

Line 1 (non iphone): 49.99 - 25% -- we don't use right now but save $12.00 /month
Line 2 (iphone): 20.00 (iphone data) + 9.99 (second line)
Line 3 (iphone) : 20.00 (iphone data) + 9.99 (third line)

Your discount would be higher if you were on a bigger plan -- we're on the smallest family talk plan out there.

That's all I did, potted land line number to it. And my discount is 27% and I know there are even higher ones, 26% isn't the max.

Brilliant! I am trying to figure out how much cheaper it would be.

With the non iPhone line, can that be in my or my girlfriends name or would we need to find a thrid person?

Right now we have the $59.99 Family plan, $30 for inlimited texts and $20 data for each one of the iPhones.

What if the main account holder is the iPhone already? Would they switch it?

You can try, but I've had no success.
I had a 25% discount through my company and it was wiped out instantly.
I had 2 phones and one was not an iPhone. I told them to make that the primary and they said they will not switch it.
Had I made the non-iPhone the primary number BEFORE I activated the iPhone, it would have been a non-issue.
But like many others, they said I would retain my discount on the family plan because they all weren't iPhones. Lying sacks of ****!
I've talked to so many different reps and each one gives a different story.
They all have no clue.

I wish you better luck.
