My idea is buy the base unit pull the i3 8300 and drop in an i7 8700t.

This will be a thread on modding the new 2018 mac minis.

Best buy has the base model for 800 I have some coupons so I can get a base model for about 650.

I will order it and see how easy it is to upgrade.
I have the new dell 7060 optiplex with an intel i7 8700t inside it.
Sooo I am thinking of a swap.
Anyone is invited to post here on this thread with ideas for tricking out their new 2018 mac mini.

That idea is dead from the very beginning, the CPU does not appear to be socketed.

I imagine the CPU is soldered on. And the T2 chip may prevent hardware changes?

my guess is the t2 chip could be an issue ,but that you can swap out the cpu. the trick will be telling the t2 chip to accept it. I think they put the t2 chip in to prevent swapping cpus. only time will tell. even if the cpu is not changeable thread still has lots of legs.
as ram upgrades
external ssd upgrades
external gpu upgrades still will be interesting.

no one knows if faster ram then 2666 will work

Why not wait for an iFIXIT teardown.

Isn't the flash storage soldered directly to the logic board? That alone makes this dead deal to me. Flash storage has a limited lifespan.
