1. Not everyone is in the same situation as you. Some people weren't eligible to upgrade right on 9/12 for one, but are now.

2. Some people weren't able to pre-order at midnight that day for whatever reason - other commitments, out of the country, pre-order pages were spotty and didn't work for some, etc.

3. Some who pre-ordered changed their minds after reviews rolled out and cancelled pre-order but by the time they did everything was back-ordered.

4. And finally, some people just flat out prefer to wait in line, not everyone is complaining about doing that, most, if you go to these lines are having a great time. And actually enjoy it.

I pre-ordered, and will have mine delivered today, but thinking everyone had or wanted this option is a bit silly on your part.

Wow did this thread rub me the wrong way this morning!! Yep - I read it again. Still does

Not everyone was able to stay up until 3AM EST to pre-order a cell phone. Also, Apple's website was a mess for the pre-orders and it was overall just a stressful situation and I don't blame anyone who didn't want to take part in it. Not everyone reads the tech sites like we do so I'd say most didn't even know you could pre-order. Tons of reasons why people didn't/couldn't pre-order dude.

But all of them can get to the store at 3AM and sit there for 6-8 hours?

Huh? Verizon made you eligible for an upgrade now with an 11/15 date? Mine's 11/18.

I intended more for satirical irony .
My date was actually 10/12, but they sent out a memo they were making dates prior to 11/15 immediately eligible

You could have pre-ordered iPhone 6 a week ago, thereby bestowing you with any iPhone 6 of your choice... It could have even been sent to your doorstep through a revolutionary new feature called home delivery. Or, you could have miraculously had one already reserved at an Apple Store.

Is there any logic to not pre-ordering on-time? If I had an upgrade now instead of in November I would have but now I'm just trying to scalp. Am kicking myself for not pre-ordering and assuming prices would be lower on eBay this year... If I had an upgrade I'd be kicking myself a lot more.

That is all.

You forgot to add, from a D-bag in your headline.
Good luck scalping, seems you have found your calling.

If by some miracle (not likely though) Apple opens a store in Tallahassee before the i7 comes comes out, I'll definitely pre-order for in store pick up. As it is now though the closest one is in Jacksonville some 3 1/2 hours away.

Some of us are out of town right now. I have a cross upgrade issue but even if I didn't, I am 2600 miles away from being able to answer my door for the UPS man today.

My experience with Pre-Ordering on AT&T went as smooth as can be. Honestly, it went so well I did not believe my order actually went through.

Logged on at 2:55 AM EST, it allowed me to start the pre-order, picked the iPhone 6 Gold 64GB, clicked continue, confirm and BAM I was done. Took less than 4 minutes.

NOW...for the people who had a hard time is this. Why are we blaming the people (I guess in SOME cases they are to blame) but not the retailers? I mean, we have gone through this now from the original iPhone through the current iPhone 6. My question is, how do these tech companies, especially Apple, have problems on launch day. They have months to prepare for this. Get the extra servers online, do internal dry runs, work out the kinks. It is inexcusable now after 8 versions of the iPhone that these companies cannot get this right. In MOST cases it is the retailers fault, NOT the consumers.

End of rant. :)

:apple:

Uhh don't know what planet you've been on, but the pre order experience with AT&T has been anything but spectacular

I am sure standing out in the NY cold for 10 hours is spectacular. Especially since you still may not get a phone.

I preordered and had no issues. I do every time I want to upgrade. I don't understand how so many people have issues.

Nothing stressful about my online pre-order situation. I woke up at 6am ET, logged into AT&T and ordered my 64GB 4.7" space grey on 9/12. My iPhone is out for delivery with UPS right now. The only "stressful" thing about it, is coming to this forum listening to grown men act like little kids with so many preconceptions about their "experience", when the phone is just now dropping today. What was stressful about my experience? Not a damn thing.

Love it! It's an amazing thing so see grown people act like a 2 year old who has just thrown his toys out of the pram. It makes all Apple users look like losers. This weekend I'm sure going to get asked "You're not one of those people who camp out and act like an idiot?" Nope. Pathetic and sad to get lumped in with them. I clicked a couple of times, right before I went to bed one night, and the phone will magically appear today. It was just so difficult.

Sheer laziness. It is very easy to preorder, they made an app for it (When it works) you don't have to stay up set an alarm wake up for 20 minutes pre order and go back to bed. I blame people for not doing research in this day and age, if you couldn't stay up till 3 then you had to know you would be waiting in gigantic lines.

A Note to Everyone in Line Right Now/Trying to Buy on Launch Day

Sorry but don't listen to the original poster, I ordered my iPhone 6+ at 12:40am (128GB) and had a 9/19 delivery all week then suddenly yesterday it got delayed because Apple was unable to confirm my eligibility with Verizon, so now while all of you have fun with your new phone I wait for next week.

All while I paid full price.

I lined up at 6 am at my AT&T store, 1st in line. (Windoze centric area,1980-90)

By 7:30 there were 14 people in line. I was home at 9 and had two 64 gig slate gray's plus $400 credit for 2 iPhone 5's for a balance of $243 on my CC. That is why I did not pre-order.

GOOD DAY for me so far. Restore from backup took about 15 minutes. Back to using my phone.

The logic, was to get the credit for the phones, contract for 2 years, shared plan with AT&T too
expensive for two phones.

Your an idiot. :D

Just went to Apple Store in Greensboro, and it is still crazy busy with about 100 people still in line for a phone. We just wanted to get a case for fiancé's 6 plus and add Applecare+, and we had to wait in another line to even get into the store. They were putting up barricades to end the line when we were leaving.

They must have run out of half the models by now?
