Thanks. Can I fight my case with apple? I have some good points though.
1. When I inquired about the gift card I was told that the full amount was there. If for any reason there was something wrong with gift card at that time it should have been discovered.*

2. It is apple policy that a gift card cannot be purchased with another gift card in this case if the apple employee had been following store policy this could have been avoided.*

3. Since I was able to purchase the gift card, it is my product and I had no direct access to the original tender for the bad gift card. However it was originally paid for should not be my burden to prove. And the two gift cards should not be treated to be related

4. If there were any questions about the original tender the original gift card should have been deactivated there was enough time to to determine if the payment was valid.*

5. There were so many opportunities for apple to catch the error without me becoming involved with the situation. Therefore I feel that I should not be punished for those errors. I took all precautions to avoid any misunderstandings this was all caused by the carelessness of the apple employees

I searched him on facebook by typing first letter of his name, last name @ apple.com and his facebook account showed up.

Well, I guess this story was a flop!

Apple loss prevention is investigating the matter. They will let me know by tuesday June 21st. I got text message from seller that he wants to return my money now. I will upload screenshots of all text messages after the case is resolved.

This is the first thread I have ever read from beginning to end. Please keep us updated. If he works at the store and you have all of the evidence you say you do then your money should be returned shortly. There is no way you can't get your money back. Everything is on camera in the apple store and they should have all of the transactions on file so you're fine.

This is thumps down, why:confused:

I am glad this is getting taken care of OP, and if the guy really works for Apple. I am sure he maybe getting some heat for it.

I finally got my money back from the seller today. I spoke with loss prevention officer and they are going to take This very seriously.

Hmmm, if they guy offered to the money back, with out a court order. Good chance the guy was not scamming you. If he works for Apple, I would not be surprised like I said if he got in trouble. As it was probably some sort of ruffle for Apple employees, and Apple is pretty damn secrete enough.

It's often done with a stolen credit card, takes awhile for the transaction to be reversed.
How did you transfer the balance from one iTunes card to another? Didn't think this was possible.
Curious how much did you pay and where did you meet this person?

I am waiting for apple to finish their research and they will get back to me on Tuesday. I emailed apple and I told them they shouldn't have sold me the new gift card if the first card had any problems. second, apples gift card policy is that you cannot purchase a new gift card with an old gift card. If their employee had followed that policy situation could have been avoided. Any suggestions that might help my case? Seller used the giftcard in apple store on June 1st to purchase $15 iTunes card and sold me the apple gift card on June 7th. My gift card was cancelled on June 9th. Apple should have taken steps to cancel the card. They had enough time.

Just to try and help clear up the can you buy new gift card with old one. Yes, you can. At least, I could. Kind of. Here's the story: got a bunch of them over a two year period for various gifts, brought them all to apple store and traded them in for one new one for the amount they all added up to. It was just easier for me to have one and use that one a few months later when the imac I wanted came out for sale on the apple store. I had no problems doing this, took like five minutes. One of the apple store guys did it with that handheld card reader they all carry around.

There was no raffle. He sold a apple gift card to his friend with a fraudulent credit card and tried to sell that gift card to make some money. When I used the original gift to purchase a new gift card, Apple started looking into the payment of original gift card and could not verify the original payment. That's why the card got deactivated. Seller realized that he got caught and for him to cover his ass he should return my money. But apple wil still take actions against him.

I know you can buy a new gift card with old gift card but if you read apple's gift card policies on the back of gift card or online, it says you can't.
