I currently have a 13" early 2010 MBP, and im going to have to be the black sheep of the crowd.

I am unimpressed by the mac. I really dont see the advantages of having OSX over windows. Now dont get me wrong. OSX is a very nice OS, and has its advantages, but i just cant justify the price jump from win7 to OSX. Especially when win7 is almost as fast, if not faster than OSX.

The main problem i have with the computer, is the lack of hardware available in the 13" models. Mainly the c2d it is stuck with. There are also countless times where i will be playing a game, and the computer will overheat, and performance will take a huge hit. This renders the game unplayable.

I wish the macbook pro i bought was actually a macbook "pro". I would have loved for it to have specs like the vaio Z, except no SSD's. But nope. c2d.

On the other hand. The build quality is outstanding. The trackpad is the best i have ever used. And the screen is alright. Could be higher res.

If apple would make a 13" laptop with great build quality, and "pro" specs. I would gladly buy that. Or if windows laptop manufacturers could get the trackpad and buil quality right, i would switch in a heartbeat.

I voted "This is my first and I would buy another". This is of course provided that prices don't go insane.

Next time around I think I will opt for a 13" though. The 15" is a bit big for my constant travelling, and I don't really need the extra horsepower, just got it this time because I got it for a great price and I really needed the higher resolution.

The next 13" will almost certainly take care of the crappy resolution (like they did in the Macbook Air) so no more complaints.

I had the old white plastic G4 iBook (12" iirc?). Lovely machine. My wife graduated with her Masters degree, and she agreed (reluctantly) to let me buy her a Mac (up till then she had been using an old work-hand-me-down laptop with XP on it, or the university computer labs).

So I got her a 15" MBP. That was 4 years ago, and she was well on her way to wearing it out. She had worn out the trackpad button (it would click only if you pushed in one spot) and she actually wore the the paint off the keyboard. She types - a lot! Everything else was working fine on that system, but she needed to run XP in VMWare, and that old machine was not quite up to it....

So she has just bought herself a 17" unibody MBP. Wouldn't even look at the alternatives. Didn't like the price, but we bought refurbished... and she would have paid the price for new, if she had had to. She also has a 1st generation MBA for work travel that she loves - the MBP stays home and is used as a desktop system that moves easily from room to room.

I have owned one of every rev of non-unibody 15" MacBook Pro, so that would be 4 total. And I'll buy another one once they get nice quad core processors and are upgradeable to 16GB of RAM.

first time owner

i have a mid 2010 macbook pro 13". i have used windows pcs all of my life until i got this over the summer. ive quickly become a huge fan and will def make my next purchase a macbook pro. cant wait to see what the future holds for the mbp.

I am curious to see how many repeat MacBook Pro customers are on this forum. If you currently own a MacBook Pro, please complete the above survey for me. This applies to any size and any year MBP. I will then vouch that you are awesome. Thank you.

And a PowerBook G4 before that. And, a white MacBook. OSX really matured when Tiger came along. All these machines are still working. Got bitten by the famous Nvidia problem - Apple fixed it. OS X is so superior to anything Windows prior to Vista/W7 that there was no contest until recently.

Price is an obstacle, though - Windows boxes are much cheaper than they were three years ago, and, Apples are not, so, the temptation to get by with an inferior OS is definitely there, and Windows 7 security is vastly improved over XP.

My new laptop purchases include 90% of all PowerBook models beginning with the 170, and every new model of 15" MacBook Pro. Two 17" & one 13" MBP. I guess it's obvious I like my Mac Laptops.

Actually if one has current, complete knowledge & experience with both OS X Snow Leopard & Windows 7, it's apparent they are excellent. There's nothing inferior in either. Thus it really boils down to just two considerations. Which OS you prefer, and are you willing to pay the higher price charged by Apple?

I have both a new i7 15" 2.66 MBP, and an identically configured ThinkPad T510. They are both top notch laptops. In fact the ThinkPad has a much nicer FHD 1920x1080 hi-res display. Too bad Apple continues to use lower resolutions. I have what Apple wrongfully calls hi-res (it's actually medium res) on the MBP, yet Apple has lagged for years when it comes to hi-res displays. Over the last four years each of my new ThinkPads have had true hi-res displays. Professionals demand them, whereas consumer oriented MBP's get by with older tech.

First MBP, but I upgraded from the first-gen BlackBook. My next notebook will either be a MBP or MBA...

This will be my first true Mac, though I have been hackintoshing PCs for a while now.

Anyways, I'll probably be buying Mac for a long time to come. Highest quality computers in the business.

First mbp (had a hackintosh before), not sure I'll get another one anytime soon. I'm thinking of getting a desktop as I need the power but I really like being able to carry all of my stuff with me. Too many conflicting interests that all require way to much processing power! I'm a mechanical engineering student so I do quite a bit of CAD work and renderings but I also do a lot of music with my computer and plan on playing with live with it. I also want to get started with video...

My 2009 13" MBP was my first Mac of any kind. The unibody construction had me hooked the moment I saw it. When they added the SD slot, I couldn't resist any longer.

I will probably make this a family hand-me down and will definitely replace it with another MBP or even an MBA.
