I apologise for the length of this post, but I'm just so happy about this.
I've had plenty of wonderful experiences with Apple's excellent customer service but this tops it. One of my sisters unfortunately suffers from Crohns disease, and she had a lifesaving operation about two years ago and has been pretty good ever since. I got her an iPad 1 for one of her more recent stays in hospital and she absolutely loved it.
Two weeks ago she visited me and we went to the local Apple store to look at the iPad 2 (she was quite tempted by it as it came in white...) but we decided not to commit to anything at that point and left the store. She was using her iPad as she left the store and unfortunately she collapsed due to what would turn out to be a minor (thankfully) complication due to a medicine mix up, and her iPad smashed on the ground.
The Apple store staff were incredibly helpful and the ambulance arrived quickly. The manager of the store told me to bring the iPad back when I could. After my sister was stable and the rest of my family arrived I decided to go back to the Apple store to see if I could get it fixed. I asked to see the manager, who looked at the iPad and instantly asked an inventory specialist to fetch an iPad. I was then given a brand new iPad 2 64gb model, and again I had the delight of giving an iPad to my sister, and she was incredibly happy. It well and truly made her day, so thank you very much, Apple! She came back to London today and went into the store and thanked the manager and employees, for helping her and for this incredibly kind gesture.
