i no exactly why i bought and love the iphone , it works! Its way ahead every other company sinply shoves the newest peice of technology onto and older phone design and os . LG and samsung especially . Iphones have huge respect and are not expected to go wrong and so i have confidence to spend more money and be secure for my 18 months and almost be garenteed that they wont update to a newer model and leave you stranded within 6. Also there is a community surrounding all apple products and though reading through the fourums these problems look widespread . they are nothing compared to other manufacturers where people simply do not bother getting there phones fixed or complaining on fourums because thats all theyd end up doing !

they should release a pink iPhone to raise money for Breast Cancer.

That way they can also reach out to those teenage girls

I never really understood why girls say they want a pink iPhone. I mean, most girls I know that have an iPhone has a case on it because you know girls will probably go crazy if their precious iPhone got a scratch on it and would want another one. But all the girls i know have pink cases on their iPhones.

Is this for real? I remember stuff like this used to happen in 3rd grade. "mommmm. Jimmy's copying me!!!"
I wasn't crying about it, I was just saying this kind of me reminds me of another thread which is thread duplication, am I right?
You're making it like I said it was a big deal and I wasn't.

Oh, that's why we got these suckers: ;)

I always better on a stand qwert keyboard lay out for a phone or other small devices. That sense of feel to me is important for me being able to write something with out looking at the keys. On the touch screen keyboards that lack feeling the keys slows me down and forces me to watch where my fingers are going.

Ah :) That makes sense. People have different needs, and not every phone is going to work for everybody.

Another simple reason is that the other guys just don't innovate... at all. I've been buying Nokia phones for a long time now and they've all been the same..... with slightly better screens and ringtones. Then the iPhone comes out and now everyone makes their knockoff. No company will ever get my phone business again. Well, it's extremely unlikely, anyway.

But the way Apple's is going to "innovate" is by slowly adding features onto the iPhone that most other smartphones already have. Besides the multi-touch interface, I just don't see how this phone is innovative - and I have one. The reason I love mine is because its ease of use, the fluidity of the touch screen, and it's reliability - but I wouldn't go as far as saying it's one of the most innovative phones on the market.

So when you watch Hulu, the phone's screen magically changes its resolution so it's no longer 432×240?

That's quite a trick! You're right, the iPhone doesn't do that.

No I think you misunderstood my last post. I was trying to imply that I didn't think that the Iphone could be tethered to a laptop to use the cell coverage on the phone to get the laptop on the internet. Which is something that my Instinct can do. And it does it well enough that I can watch HD Hulu videos. Maybe I wasn't being clear enough. Hope this dispells any confusion.

@ZiggyPastorius
I should probably have added that I get a pretty solid discount from my employer, so that really sealed the deal for me. Not that I was attempting the hide the truth to better present my case:D

This is the exact reason I bought an iMac. I don't know much about computers and all the different models make me scared :D The iMac is just called the iMac, buying it was so easy and there are only 4 different types to choose from.

There's no best phone out there for everyone. If you read forums for other devices you'll see thousands of people knocking the iPhone for exactly the same reason's that people on this forum are knocking other devices. Horses for courses. Although you can say that the iPhone may be outselling any other individual handset out there, you should remember that more people are NOT buying an iPhone than are buying one.

I've said it before but I'll say it again, what the iPhone did that was innovative was to bring smartphone features to people who had never experienced smartphones before and largely didn't know these things were possible. For many iPhone users, this is the first time they've been able to get push email on their phones, download applications, etc. That's not to say that all of these things haven't been out there for a long time, but that this is the first time that it has been easy for people less technically minded to do. You have to remember that most iPhone users are previous featurephone users, not smartphone (although yes there are some of those too).

For a real power user the iPhone just doesn't cut the mustard. There were lots and lots of things that I could do on my old N95 which I just can't do on my iPhone. Unfortunately I have to make a compromise. I compromise on features because I like the UI of the browser, although I miss some of the more advanced features of the S60 browser such as the Flash player. I went away for the weekend and had to dig my N95 out to use the SatNav (there was a lot of driving involved). I miss being able to edit office documents, take decent photos and video and post them straight to flikr, facebook, etc right from the device. And for the love of god don't get me started on this whole "We won't allow apps in the background but will use a Push Notifications system instead" rubbish! Do Apple really and honestly think that instead of letting me have my IM app running in the background for 5 hours a day which might use a bit of memory and battery, that its a better idea to have me connected to a server 24/7 chewing my battery to pieces? Come on! Are we really expected to believe that they can't write a bit of memory management code? Every other smartphone in the world does it!

Like I said, its horses for courses. But don't assume that because you're happy with your iPhone that it's the best phone in the world. It's not for everyone.

That's an excellent post. It would be very interesting to see a poll asking if current iPhone users have ever owned a smartphone before (excluding first iPhone).

For those bashing Sprint; I had Sprint for 7+ years and never had any trouble with their network or reception. It doesn't matter if they don't have the numbers, they have the infrastructure to have an excellent network.

Now, their customer service and their phone selection is another story - both are seriously lacking. That's why I switched.

Agreed. Were it not for wanting an iPhone, I would have NEVER switched from Sprint. The network is far more stable, faster, and yeah, just plain better than ATT.

The only good thing about ATT so far, is the iPhone itself. The service is not as reliable, at least in my area, the 3G network does not compare in speed to Sprint EVDO, and the service cost for things like texting is far to expensive.

Still, I'm happy, as Sprint can't touch the iPhone with any hardware, and their service, as in customer service, stinks.

Yeah, the real competition will be occuring in about 1-2 years when AT&T no longer have their exclusive deal. Right now, it's like shooting fish in a barrel. It's a good time to work at AT&T; they don't even have to open their mouth to make a sale.
