I agree. The full size iPad is much better, because you can prop it up to create a higher wall between you and the other person. I often read at dinner, so I can definitely appreciate this feature.

LOL!

Me and my partner do often sit at restaurants each looking at iPhones/iPads. I like to think that we are just comfortable enough with each other that we don't need to always be chatting. ;)

The larger ones are what iPads intended to be all along. The guy must shake in his grave everytime a mini is sold. Put that screen and ram in an android tablet now for $329, only a zombie might buy it cause he does not know any better.

Anyone use screen-protectors? I'm thinking MediaDevil (crystal clear).

Obvious arguments - on a phone, they're arguably needed but on an ipad?

As soon as the next generation full size iPad comes out with a mini form factor, everyone will be freaking out about it. Watch it happen.

The form factor is a HUGE, HUGE part of why the Mini is so popular (along with price of course).

Screen protector

I got a screen protector that I'm happy with from Incipio for my iPad 2. It was in a pack (that I got on black Friday, ~15 dollars?) with a stylus, screen protector, car iPad charger and cord, and cleaning cloth. I paid 15 dollars before just for one stylus! (sad thing is, I like the feel of the new stylus even better...)

By the way, I like to feel like I got two screen protectors; this one comes sandwiched like an Oreo (the good stuff's in the middle), and I kept the outer plastic on for protecting my screen protector. ;)

I just got an iPad 4 a couple days ago. It's my first one and I love it. I have an iPhone 5 and I think they compliment each other well. I was really on the fence whether to get the retina iPad or iPad mini, but in the end I am glad I got the bigger display (I'm sure ill get the mini eventually though).

I dont have anything against the mini but for me i know i will always go for the full sized iPad.

Currently rocking the 3 waiting for what the 5 will bring.

The mini is for small-handed people, and there are many of them on this planet, so I don't judge. To each his own.

I have the 3rd iPad (the original "The New iPad"), and see no reason to upgrade to the 4 or even the 5, based on iPad 5 rumors. So it's faster? Wow. I'm drooling over the .0001 ms speed-up in rendering web pages and calling up apps. Seriously, I don't do any gaming or heavy photo editing on my iPad, so any speed increase is negligible. I'll upgrade once the overlords decree that the iPad 3 is no longer upgradeable to whatever the new iOS is at that time.

Browsing a website in portrait on a 9.7" retina screen is the best way to browse any website, on any device, period.

So yeah, I love the full size iPad. :)

Finally, I found an iPad thread I belong in. I have both the iPad 4 and the mini. I don't like the mini very much. I'm not referring to specs or screen resolution rather using it for surfing, emailing, reading, PDFs etc.

Either you're reading small text or scrolling left, right, up, down ... why settle for a lessor user experience is what I don't understand. The iPad certainty isn't more difficult to carry than the mini unless you're a woman trying to fit it in a purse.

To read the mini is outselling the regular size iPad in some countries is amazing. I don't get it. I agree it's cool looking and everything but for using it daily unless you're viewing photos, gaming or some specialty purpose it's a downgrade from the full size iPad.

The full size iPad can be used almost anywhere a mini can, I'm in bed typing this on my iPad 4 now using the split keyboard, I use the yoobao case, works great.

Weight is the biggest gripe about the iPad.

This is being addressed with the new IGZO Diplay.

Its thinner and much lighter, so the new iPad 5th gen may make those whiners happy.

I am disgusted by the complete and utter disregard for basic grammar in this thread.

I have an iPad mini, 32Gb, and my boyfriend has the iPad 3, 16Gb. My device runs faster and more consistently. However, the 9.7" screen is perfect for watching films on-the-go, unlike the iPad mini, which seems too small to concentrate my attention on.

Both devices have their pros and cons, and moaning about someone else's preference isn't going to make Apple take a product off the market. Enjoy the device most suited to you, and please stop ******** on everyone else's choice. It's rather egocentric and childish. :)

I have the 4 and the 2, love them both, use them for different things.

The 4, with its beautiful screen for writing, reading, art apps, and all things Internet. The 2 for music apps with irig midi interface and midi keyboard, for GPS in my car (on a hoverbar, which clamps to a storage square behind the handbrake, so the iPad sits above the handbrake between driver and passenger seat, don't have to look at it, the app talks instructions, warns of speed cameras and speed limits, but it is conveniently placed when I want to pull over and answer messages or email), and on hoverbar in kitchen for recipes etc.

I don't use the ipad2 now for text-based things, it's still perfect for all else it does. I would never buy a non-retina tablet now, and no interest in the mini size, I've got an iPhone for travelling light, when I want just a credit card in its wallet and a bit of cash in my pocket.

Love the full iPad size, perfect for all I do, and as I hardly ever hold them the weight doesn't bother me.

Really? I thought it was for women so they could put it in their purses easily. Or was it for poor people who couldn't afford the full sized iPad (the one they *really* wanted but couldn't afford)? Now it's for small handed people? Are these groups exclusive, or can there be crossover? Sadly, I fit in none of them and suddenly think the joy I feel from my mini is misplaced.

Yes, I'm a mini owner, but I don't hate the full sized iPad (I used to own one) - this isn't a competition, one isn't universally and absolutely better than the other, you don't "win" simply by choosing "the right one", this whole "war" is ridiculous (and all too often incredibly offensive). For me and my needs, the mini is perfect, but I would never say the full sized iPad is a POS, it's a lovely device. Both are lovely devices.

I, too, am of the mind that the diminutive iPad, the so-called iPad Mini, is a marvelous device. What a momentous time we live in, when one can choose even the size of an iPad!

As to your inference that I was being callous and rude, sir, I believe that it was quite obvious that my comment was more tongue-in-cheek. But I apologize nonetheless; the onus is on the poster and not the reader. It is unfortunate that one cannot express a sense of humour on the Internet quite as easily as in face to face communication.

Ah well.

This reminds me of the Steve Jobs mock-up at Keynote speeches with the ipad getting bigger and bigger until it's something so big you have to walk across it.

Seems like every thread in here these days even months after release is someone creaming over how great the mini is and how much the retina iPad is just a horrendous brick of a device.

The mini blows. Crap screen, processor that's already a generation behind, cheap screen printed Apple logo on the back, and the black model comes with the cheap, looks-unfinished-like-primer black anodization.

Here's to the retina iPad, with full power, a beautiful screen, much more workable screen real estate, a nice size, easy to hold, etc. etc. etc. Appreciate your full size iPad here.:apple:

Yes, I know I am at the right place thanks to the above :D
I hate the iPad Mini, it reminds me of the iPod Shuffle which I also hate, the iPad Mini represents the same reasons I didn't get a iPad2 with a smaller screen on top of all of that, urrgh.

Loving my 4th gen iPad, glad I waited a bit after the 3rd gen was released, the A6X CPU in this thing is a beast :D and the Retina display is the icing on the top.

Now we have a war between apple fanboys :D

I need to read a lot of PDF and full size iPad is the perfect size for me.

I just upgraded from iPad 2 to iPad 4 and love retina display , this is something I didn't have and now I couldn't have an iPad without retina .
